I need all your opinions

Ok, im getting a tattoo soon, a tribal tat. I want it to start on my shoulder blade and finish at my elbow, but I havent found any great designs and I dont wanna get any old one. So if anyone has opinions or perhaps someones good at designs, it'd be much appreciated.
Where's Fenix when I need him?! Grrrr

TheBig3 01-23-2007 06:47 PM

Traditionally, Tribal tattoos ear mark you as a neandertal.

swim 01-23-2007 06:50 PM

So, what are you racist?

Sparky 01-23-2007 06:52 PM

you should get one of tupac on your back:bringit:

hardcore..

Laces Out Dan! 01-23-2007 09:26 PM

I hate tribal tattoos soo much...they're so generic and unoriginal now

littleknowitall 01-24-2007 09:41 AM

Jacobs rules to tatoo's.

1) never get anything out of the book
2) no generic teenage tatoos e.g flames, fairys, dragons, stars, skulls, hearts and anymore of that bollocks.
3) design it yourself or have it designed for you.
4) try and steer clear of tribal and celtic tatoo's unless they're absolutely fantastic.
5)make it meaningfull to you.
6) think about it for a couple of months to make absolutely sure you like your idea.
7) bare in mind the colour will fade and the damn thing is permanent.

mind you as much as i want a tatoo, my long list of rules are holding me back...but atleast im not plastered in ****ty tatoos...

riseagainstrocks 01-24-2007 09:58 AM

What tribe are you a part of? None? THAT'S RIGHT!

Tribal tattoos should only be worn by people in tribes. Not you.

littleknowitall 01-24-2007 10:00 AM

which leads straight back to point 4 on my list :)

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-24-2007 11:20 AM

IF you are getting a tribal tattoo you may as well just tattoo 'CHAV' on your forehead.

Ma Cherie 01-24-2007 11:23 AM

kurt where are you from contry wise, and think, if you want something tribal, don't do generice, either design it your self, or go pacific island, where most originaly came from

edit, jus so you know, i draw up my tat designs or i get my mum to, othe then taht i don't trust others for it

Someone explain this to me.
Anyway, the reason I want a tribal tattoo, is simply because they're so unspecific. I don't want to get a design that means something to me, then in 20 years means sweet f.a. I just want a good design. And chavs dont use tribal tattoos only girls, on the base of their back.
Acting like a neandertall marks you as one, not by the tattoo you have Big3

1. I think, they think it's a ganster/tribe/group thing.

2. Tramp stamps.

3. Well said.

so you think a design that means f*ck all to you now will somehow be better? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, you may as well just get "I don't want a tattoo badly enough to think of anything meaningful, so I'm just tattooing this meaningless shit on my body so I can look hardcore. FUCK YEAH BITCHES!!"

not neccerely, i plan to get a tat on my lower back, but my tat will have personal symbolism as well, kinda like a heart with winf, unlike other girls, i want mine about medium sized, not to big, not tiny either, and for someone my age, and as a female where i live, i got what is consiter a big tatto for the area where i have one alread, it a celtic style cross, my mum drew from me folloing a book on symbolism of the celtic cross, it not a generic celtic motif either, but a patten that no longer use of circles that interlock to gether, there a pic of it somewhere up here, and it quite big for a first tattoo as well, instead of the stamp size midget tat other girls get their frist time...

so it all up to the person getting it

but please don't get something off the flash, it not one of a kind, and don't get something you will want removed later, for me i though2 very long years over what i wanted, and got something that meant something to me because once its there, it permenant, unless you wish to pay more that triple the pprice if not more to remove it

Frances 01-25-2007 12:00 AM

I would find out what you want, print it out a few times and stick them up in your room or the bathroom or somewhere you will see them often and leave them up for at least 3-6 months. If you still think it's fantastic, then get it. If you still like it but not as much, you may like it even less in the future and that's probably something you'd want to take a bit longer to think about.

Spike*Spiegel 01-25-2007 01:16 AM

i love you all

ma cherie....

Alo 01-25-2007 02:36 AM

I think most tattoo's are ugly... So I'd recommend you not to get one.

But if you must, make it something special to you, I agree with Jib on that one.

~nutshell~ 01-25-2007 09:25 AM

i dont know anything about tribal tatoos. I dont have any tatoos but I am enetertaining the idea of getting my daughters initials done on my neck...what kind of lettering should I get??

Ma Cherie 01-25-2007 12:48 PM

depends, do you want it read right out, smbols as in asian or calligraphy?

if i get mine, i'm getting my european name in katakana, and my japanese one(used for art ect...) in kanji( like whats on my hanko(ink seal))

it the preference in the eye of the beholder..., just think on what you want what do you like?

littleknowitall 01-27-2007 05:19 PM

I've never seen the point in having something tatooed on you in another language, is it meant to make it more meaningfull, if you want your tatoo to say something let them spell it in plain ****ing english,

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-27-2007 05:50 PM

i dunno. if that language means a lot to you then bugger it.
french means a ridiculous amount to me.
& personally i find it a bootiful language.
why not have it imprinted on you?
s'up to you, your body.
not htere to make an impression to other people.
its like , i write/draw stuff on mysef to remind me of htings.
but itd be there always. like a little personal reminder/message type thing.
i think itsn ice. have it in whatever way appeals to you most.

littleknowitall 01-27-2007 06:10 PM

wel ok i'll be more specific, i've met hundreds of people who've walked into tatoo shops and had things like 'courage' tatooed on them in japanese because they saw the translation underneath in the book, i'd get something in welsh but that would, ofcourse, be because it's my heritage....i just don't think a tatoo in another language solely because it's another language is a good idea.

littleknowitall 01-27-2007 06:11 PM

Mind you i've neer actually considered a ttoo in welsh until now, me has a lot to think about.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-27-2007 06:17 PM

reminiscnence. jack dee.
something about jack dee & japanese characters.
"please choose from the selection below.".
i shoudlnt drink.

anyway,
tattoos are fun.
languages are awesome.
screw you guys.

littleknowitall 01-27-2007 06:21 PM

What me?

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-27-2007 06:22 PM

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-27-2007 06:33 PM

yknow what?
sssh.
tattoos = personal choice.

i dont kno wwhat else to say.

what i meant was to get my personaly ink seal tattooed on to me, it unique and mine alone, it just hapend to read like this:
Natsuame Naomi, summers rain, pure and beautiful, that the translation, but it a NAME, mine, in japanese
i study japanese culture, and art form so it appropriate for me, all i was saying is choose something unique to your self, i won't get anything in german yet, because i still occasionally deal with the" go back to germany you nazi" sterotype, when obiously i'm not one at all, if i get something in german, probably a memorial to my grandparent, as i was not allowed by my dad to go to either funeral, so i can get that as my form of closure

dirt mcgirt 01-30-2007 10:02 PM

yo son, why dont you get a 'spiritual' celtic design on yo lower back or a dolphin on yo shoulder.

jibber 01-31-2007 12:12 AM

^hahahaha.

i'd like to meet dirt more than any other on here, just to see who he actuall is. I picture a slightly skinny white kid, longish hair, just your average "skater" type of guy.

Luna Vulgar 02-23-2007 12:29 PM

If you want to get yourself a really cool original tribal tattoo, you're going to pay out of your ass for it. Go to an artist, discuss an idea, something cool (most artists don't enjoy doing tribal art unless there's an original idea behind it - trust me, I dated one) and see where the artwork leads you. Pick at it until you get something you know you want on your body for the rest of your life. I have two tribal pieces (as well as other, but they're not tribal, they're Japanese style), but they're mythological creatures created from my own mind and an artists hand. Trust me, it's the best way to go if you're looking for tribal - don't get anything too simple. It looks lame.
