holistic healing
has anyone gone to a holistic healer? what did you get done?
|
um..what exactly is it?

alternative medicine

It is a different type of medical treatment that focuses on more than just the medical symptoms and the medical treatment. Instead it focuses on the whole body, making sure all parts (social, nutrition, lifestyle, ect.) are in order, because to become better, all of those things have to be in good order.
yea. I spent a whole week up in the Berkshires (i don't know if i spelled that right) at a place focused on Holistic healing. They took away all fatty, salty foods, caffeines, and sodas. Then they send you to the doctor who tests your blood for any drugs and ****. Then you have to talk to a dietitian who makes this insanely healthy diet that you HAVE to eat. But you're required to tend 2 yoga classes a day on top of 1 hour of aerobic exercise. I did have acupuncture though a couple of times (feels so ****ing amazing). And a couple of aroma theropy sessions and massages (also feels great). The weirdest thing i did was with a spiritual person who like sensed my aura using a crystal and hummed a lot and made a lot of creepy predictions about what might happen if I don't adjust my aura and find inner peace. The best part was i met Uma Thurma while i was there and did yoga with her. sorry that was probably a little longer than you wanted. |

I would. There is really no harm in it, as sketchy as it sounds or looks. I'm convinced a lot of the healing has to do with the placebo effect, though. I'd be interested to know how it works out for you.
|
yeah, ive had that thought but then again, pranic healing is all about the body's power to heal itself and if you actually got better because your mind thought this healing session did something for you then it really does work. if you get what im saying. the mind is a powerful thing

I for one am happy with my brain functioning the way it is. Well-prescribed medicine works better than pranic healing... I've seen people learn this the hard way. At the same time though, medicine for pychiatric conditions seems to be badly prescribed a lot of the time so holistic approaches might be better in these cases. |
DRMO, what exactly do you do? I remember you mentioning going into the lab with undergrads and things of the sort and you're pretty knowledgable so I was just curious.

I do a PhD in Biochemical Engineering, adapting the surfaces of magnetically responsive particles so that their properties can be improved for a new process called HGMF. HGMF is a system in which adsorbents (things which proteins stick onto) draw proteins onto them in a mixture and then as these adsorbents also respond to magnet the adsorbent + protein can be removed from the mixture by applying a magnetic field.
Overall, it removes proteins from a mixture in one simple step, without having to do all of the repeated purifications steps which are normally needed in protein production. I'm not doing neurology, or any other branch of medicine, so I don't have in-depth knowledge of the brain. What I do know is that stats like "we only use 2% of our brain" don't mean we only ever use 2% of it, it means that we only use about 2% (or whatever percentage) at one time, largely because that's an efficient way to use the brain. If you think of the brain as a house, you might say you only use a small percentage of the house at any one specific time (the area where you and your housemates are sitting/cooking etc.) but that's not to say you don't use a much larger percentage of it during the day. Although, if that analogy were stretched I suppose using more of your brain would be a lot like a party... |
I had a pretty decent boob job done with soem salve and the juice of the Yuka plant.

??, as in the fluid made it larger or are you joking?

I holistically healed my pet dog once. It worked a treat. People kept asking me why I was pulling a dead dog around on a lead but you're always going to get those cynics who don't understand the ways of alternative medicine. He wasn't dead, he was meditating! And so were his lungs! ****ing dad buried him. ****ing bastard. |
never mind....
