Default Help please, kthx

So I have this problem. I'm posting from a computer that just recently got "fixed" meaning a friend managed to get internet going on it. However, somehow, its like I'm permanately stuck in safe mode and everything looks like ****. Also, nothing appears on my desktop. Any ideas on what could possibly fix it?

its windows right?
try rebooting and pressing whatever fkey it is that gets you into the options area before your comp starts up.

check if there is a safe mode setting or something that he locked on.i think thats how it works.

What exactly did he change earlier?

Windows XP, f8, and I already did that. The thing is this isn't in safe mode, it just looks like safe mode. I've tried changing the settings but I don't have any options aside from 4-bit.

This computer was missing drivers (making it impossible to do anything really), so he installed the drivers. Then Windows XP prompted to download Pack2, which seemed fine. After that the computer was restarted and its been stuck ever since.

np..

just to let you know my comp wasn't ever able to install sp2 for some reason. I think i have a massive virus or something though, so you should be good.

not that it makes much of a difference though.
