To All Sexy Music Peeps

Ten years ago, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15, 2007, all internet users are not to go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.30 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000 American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about $55 to $80 to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on May 15, it would take $4,745,000,000.00 ( almost 5 BILLION DOLLARS) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15 and let’s try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

Please resend this to all your friends on your list .

This has been attempted several times before and as you can see it hasn't worked. I doubt it will this time, the oil companies are smart enough to realize eventually were going to need gas.

I would absolutely love this if it were to work...im getting a car soon and everything..and its soo hard to pay for gas..you should put something about this on facebook...things move around on there pretty fast.

ditto.
Not going to the gas tanks for a day isn't going to help ****, I promise you. It's just a terrible idea started by people who have no conception of history or the world economy.

I'd like to think that it would work but is one day without five billion dollars really going to do anything to the oil companies? I don't think it would because the next day they'd just make the money again.

Plus everyone probably just filled up the day before...great message.

I didn't get gas that day, but mostly because I only need to every couple weeks.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 05-16-2007 08:14 PM

You'd think if the oil companies knew there would be a gas out they'd just raise the price for the next day...

I guess to make any difference at all we would not get any gas for a week or a month. But who's going to do that? We are trapped in this little gas grid world of ours. Darnskie!
