Children of Men

I'm in a place where you can't really be up to date on movies but I just caught this flick and it was amazing.

never seen it

Whoever wrote this movie didn't really think it through all the way, that or they'd never taken an economics course. Here we go: nobody is being born so your population (and your economy) is dwindling... what do you do? Kick out all the immigrants!

No. That's dumb. If anything, you would encourage people to migrate into your country.

Also, it would have been a lot more believable if the whole reason everyone was going bat**** and killing each other was because the economy was going to hell and everyone was getting fired and nobody could afford anything, rather than just... oh no more babies I'm angry let's firebomb things.

So yeah, I had some qualms with this movie. If you just take it as an action flick, however, it's pretty good. The problem is it tried to be more than that.

I think the film had some very interesting themes, but it has it's faults. The reason why Immigrants were being booted out was because they were being (unfairly) blamed for societys inability to reproduce. People were attacking each other were trying to achieve supremacy. They know they will have no legacy to hand down to their children, so they are trying to get as many riches as possible. Admittedly this side of the film was'nt handled the best and the ending was poor.

However it's location shooting was stunning. You really did believe that England was a war torn wasteland and some of the set pieces were some of the best I've ever seen. The car reversing through a chasing mob was brilliantly realised.

A flawed film yes, but definitely worth a watch.

Just from a cinematography standpoint, it's a stunning film that just eye-fucks you to death. The single takes were just absolutely breathtaking to behold, which is the main reason I love this film so darn much.

I can agree with that. Its plot had its flaws and stuff, but overall I thought the plot was pretty decent. And yes, the cinematography is really amazing. It's crazy shit. I really like it.

I thought it was decent, action sequences were pretty tight. But I wouldn't exactly watch it again....I'm not very drawn to dystopian flicks...

Yeh I agree, watched it at the pics when it was out. It was shot in a very unique way loved the bit in the car in the forest area and the tank scene but shame the plot didnt seem to quite fit together. The ending was a bit weird as well.

i was really bummed on the movie, i agree that the effects and look of the film were great, but the plot and everything else were weak
