In England the general consensus of opinion is, that our American cousins "don't do irony'.
That they lack the appreciation of it's finer points.

However, it's not lost on me that one of the biggest examples Brits use to prove Americans don't understand irony, is a song sung by a Canadian. ;)

As much as I hate to say it, I think the best option is to be frank with him. Look you suck at bass, songwriting, your name's Bob, and you're a jackass. I vote you out.
