What he said.

Plus creative writing.

Plus sex. But that is even more than a hobby. Still, it's a hobby, too. :)

I love tai chi. :) And yoga. They're the perfect blend of flowing and stillness. Of yin and yang. I've not been ill in 15 years and put it down to tai chi and yoga. Tai chi is beautiful to watch too:

I have learned tai chi. When I was in middle high school, tai chi was an Obligatory course. When we have this class,my all classmates didn't like and always complained. But I was very willing to learn it. So my classmates thought that I was too strange.
Hi,friend. I really like the background music. Thanks for sharing!

Agata 12-24-2015 06:39 PM

I like eating chocolate and traveling to natural places

Tai chi was obligatory at your school? Nice. I imagine you're pretty proficient by now.

My mother taught my brother and myself yoga when we were 8 and 5 respectively. That wasn't really obligatory, but I liked it too, and still do over 30 years later.

Katherinee 12-30-2015 07:23 PM

First is all kinds of sports to watch and second is traveling onto various places.

Miles on a good day. Almost always when I'm bored.

Frownland 12-30-2015 10:30 PM

Long walks are great on nice days. Starting a walk a half hour before sunrise or an hour before sunset always makes for a beautiful array of sights to see. Plus exercise.

Chula Vista 12-30-2015 10:44 PM

Another great part about walks is that you get to use your eyes to focus on far away stuff - unless you're one of those who stares at an iphone while walking. :nono:

We spend so much of our days focusing on stuff that's up close - it's nice to use the other eye muscles once in awhile.

RoxyRollah 12-31-2015 03:32 AM

Thanks dad^

I used to do both of those, but I haven't in years. I started doing yoga in the 70's as a kid (I was a strange lad), and I studied Tai Chi when I was practicing Zen Buddhism in the mid to late 90's. I used to go here to meditate. I've forgotten most of what I learned, but I plan on getting back into it.

Mr. Charlie 01-15-2016 09:46 AM

^ Yeah, tai chi's a fun exercise. Good for the health too, I find.

So you were a practitioner of Zen Buddhism? Nice. How long did you keep it up? Was there more to the practise than meditation? Was the teacher good?

I did it for a few years, around the time my daughters mother went complete batshit crazy, so probably around '96 to '99. I had a good friend who was studying psychology around that time, and he had been practicing Zazen for many years. He guided me through most of it. The different chakras, koans, and things I've mostly forgotten since then. It was a good way to keep my sanity during those times, but it also had a lasting effect and centered me from that point on in my life.

Mr. Charlie 01-15-2016 10:44 AM

Was your Zen teacher weird? I've never met a real one, but they always seem a little crazy in the stories, crazy and enigmatic.

He was a good friend of mine. Sure, he was a little off kilter, but then again he does have an amazing story behind it all. I haven't seen him since maybe 2002, but he went on to become the head of a psychiatric dept. for a children's hospital. The really 'weird' one's (as you say) were the temple dwellers, the one's that lived, ate, and breathed the culture. But, they were also the most serene.

Kino 01-28-2016 08:37 PM

Fishkeeping???? You keep fish? Please explain.

Historical modeling???? Do you dress up as George Washington and then pose for college art classes?

Frownland 01-29-2016 08:05 PM

I think that means he plays with historically accurate action figures.

Well yeah, I have pet fish, but I consider myself an enthusiast--not just some kid with a goldfish. I have two tanks and I take it pretty seriously.
