this is the guy behind 'Crumb' (watch it or die) , Ghost World (havent seen that one), and his new movie is 'Art School Confidential', please do yourself a favour and watch at least 'Crumb', at least. Then when you've seen that watch 'Art School Confidential'. Then report back with your thankyou's. Enjoy.

I have only seen GHOST WORLD and it bored the hell out of me. I really dislike this quirky American indie type film. Hal hartleys films are a prime example.

I thought Ghost World was OK, Art School Confidential was a lot funnier. Especially if you know art school kids... I guess cultural satire works better when you're part of the culture.

Wtf, I thought you indie kids were into this kinda stuff.

I've seen Ghost World, and I thought it was great, a bit low key, but I found it to be very funny and endearing.

Also, you forgot to mention that Zwigoff also did Bad Santa.

Bad Santa is fúcking great, but I stand by my opinion of Ghost World. Same as Wes Anderson films-far too dry for their own (self inflated) good.

That's what makes them so damn funny though.

Yeah but they are'nt. The films come across as THE HUMOUR IS HIGH BROW AND INTENDED FOR THE INTELLIGISTA, SO IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND IT, YOU ARE THICK AS COW SHÍT, and that is how I feel. I just don't GET the humour.

boo boo 10-13-2007 06:17 PM

So that makes it automatically unfunny for everyone else?

cardboard adolescent 10-13-2007 06:18 PM

The humor is just in the absurdity of the characters and how they interact with each other... I mean, let's take the indian butler who stabs royal for the second time, "That's the last time you put a knife in me! Y'hear me?" and then drives him to the hospital. you just laugh at how utterly meaningless all their relative pursuits are but at the same time you have to sympathize with them.

No. i'm just remarking that I don't find it funny. British humour usually goes over most American heads, because it's funny.
