Buy Online Without a "Credit Card"?
I just wanted to find out if it is possible to buy things online without paying via credit card? Website like amazon etc.. I have been reading about debit cards but not really interested as there is a number of fees and i wont be using it all that often.
Is there any such thing as a pre paid visa in australia? I found bopo but has rather large upfront costs, is a monthly thing and i've heard problems with compatibility with certain online sites. There is also canvas card which is a little cheaper but a monthly card also. i just basically want to deposit some money and be able to buy one off purchases online. Any help would be great please. |
Use a debit card , they don't have fees. It's YOUR money.

i had issues with the bank not taking out the money for like 3 days after the purchase.... so i got dishonor fees etc.. |
Yeah I think they should do it immediately too. But until they smarten up, just wait three days before you buy more stuff.

what about paypal?
or money order? |
^Paypal requires a credit card. And money orders take time to send. I'm pretty sure he's interested in instant gratification.
What are you trying to buy anyways? |
A debit card and official ISP email address will get you a paypal account and the fees are non existent really. If you still have your debit card it could be an option. axelmusic.com takes Paypal and are so easy to use and fairly cheap for media products.

This card seems to function like a debit card. I guess debit card is the best. You don't loose (in case) more than the prepaid amount.

A debit card is the same thing as using checks essentially. So you have to wait a few days for things to clear. It's a good idea to write down your balance before you make purchases and keep track of everything you purchase. Then wait five days and see if the your record matches up with your banks records. You get overcharge fees when the money is in there but another merchant hasn't sent in the payments yet. It's almost like imaginary money. That's when you get overcharged and the fees start to kick in for the bounced payments(checks). |
i think they should start advertising or your bank telling you that "your" money etc may not come out straight away...?
anywho... i found Virtual VCARD its a one off credit card that can even be bought from mobil petrol stations as well on line.. |
Wait...why not paypal?
For paypal i just link it through my bank account. It does 2 things for me, doesn't give online retailers my account info, and i can easily track transactions... I'm just saying, paypal is niiccccccceee :) |

I know paypal has just come out with an option to create one use credit card number to use when buying online.
Here the a page detailing the feature techcrunch.com/2007/11/18/paypal-to-offer-virtual-credit-card-payment-product Not sure though if you are required to have a credit card associated with your account first for security purposes. Dino |
