Really?
I didn't know it was illegal in the U.S.
I can buy absinthe over the counter at my local shop.

655321 12-06-2007 05:42 PM

arent you lucky

right-track 12-06-2007 05:47 PM

I knew it was banned in France, but not the U.S.
Britain never banned the drink.

And you should be careful with that wormwood...on it's own it's poisonous.

655321 12-06-2007 05:53 PM

yeah i know i couldnt kill myslef if i wanted to(with it) i only got 3 grams

Duke Of Slander 12-07-2007 10:50 AM

Absente is legal in the US and is often called Absinthe because it doesn't use greater wormwood but southern wormwood.

Real absinthe is still illegal but you can get it from European couriers easily if you want it.

Barnard17 12-07-2007 10:54 AM

Right Track, real Absinthe isn't legal because of it's high alcohol content. In addition, real absinthe (because it' made using wormwood) has a habit of causing hallucinations when you drink it.

right-track 12-07-2007 11:29 AM

And real Absinthe has never been officially banned from the UK.
In addition, it has a habit of causing hallucinations because it's poisonous.

655321 12-07-2007 07:53 PM

yeah ive been feeling like im floating and hearing weird things, 2 d(really bad trying to judge how fast a car is comking at you)

BigTime 12-07-2007 08:50 PM

Absinthe Question for some:

Has anyone ever "tripped" after it's use?

I for one have not, in Amsterdam I tried the stuff, this was in High School, but still...nothing.

Has it worked for anyone?

There's no law saying "absinthe is banned", there's a law saying "drink over x amount alcohol content are banned". Genuine absinthe falls into that category. Customs won't care if you bring back a bottle or two from holiday, but Londis won't have the real stuff sat behind the counter.

Yes, poisonous because of the wormwood, which causes hallucinations. But then alcohol is poisonous. That drunken feeling you get is the alcohol attacking your brain.

mannequin Republic 12-08-2007 02:38 AM

I've known a lot of people who have tried it, generally on trips to Europe, and they all have said while it is a unique brand of drunk, there were no full blown hallucinations.

Barnard17 12-08-2007 03:36 AM

Hallucination doesn't just mean seeing the little pixies etc etc. There are different strengths of hallucination, and some hallucinations are auditory or sensational rather than visual. All I know is that it causes hallucination, I don't know what type and I didn't claim it's to the same strength as say acid would achieve :P
