while I don't know much about painting your style may lend itself better to oil painting. have you ever tried oil painting?

^That looks great Ped! Beautiful lines and use of shadow.

Thanks! I'm going to finish it in charcoal, like so. (8 hours of work now)

I have not. I think I was too specific, I'm new to painting in general.

I think I'm going to try watercolor next, but with very different subject matter.

Sorry about the crappy quality, this is a cell phone photo.

it won't let me post the pic 'cause i'm too new i think, but i wanted to say i think the colors in that piece are lovely.

I'm in Drawing 1 right now. I have never drawn anything before, so it's ALL new to me. We've been working with charcoal for the last 2-3 classes, and today we had to copy a self portrait from some... guy as a class exercise. He has us do them upside down, so that we don't mess ourselves up. I thought that was a weird concept, but I definitely think it works.

I dig it man. Excellent use of light and shadow. I'm amazed to hear a designer say they've never drawn anything before, but you did a great job.

Thanks! :D And about the designer thing, well, I guess I technically have. But not in a fine arts kind of way. I've drawn boxes of content to get an idea of how I want to lay a website out, as well as some crude logo sketches, but have never sat down and drew something. I used to doodle in school too, but that was just to past the time. It was always just lines and shapes. I was always more into photography. Now I think I like both! I was immensely intimidated at first, but now I'm definitely more comfortable.

Never actually shared the completed product.

This is frankly, a bit crap, because I haven't taken the time to get a good copy of it in natural light. I feel like I ruined it somewhere along the line. I liked it better as lineart. Hm.
