I hate not feeling like I can trust my mechanic... I've had my car in the shop twice during July to have a few seemingly simple repairs done, figure out why the engine is struggling to turn over, and to fix a squeaky belt. Few days later I get a call from them saying that it's the alternator (what I suspected) and that it would be ready shortly. So after $400 later I walk away with a new alternator and new belt and a fixed car. The next day when I go out to do my daily errands I find to my dismay that the engine still isn't turning over right away and the belt is still squeaking. I drop it off at the mechanics again and this time it's bad battery terminals and the belt they replaced it with was cracked and slipping. So I drop $350 yesterday and pick it up, and everything seems to be working fine... until I try to drive over to a friend's place, when my belt is squealing worse than before and the fucking engine STILL won't turn over right away. Not only that but my driver's side door needs to be welded back onto the frame, and now my oil pressure is dropping while my temperature gauge is rising, something that was fixed 3-years ago...
My car is still technically driveable, but I just am feeling very cheated at the moment, and feeling like I need to find a new mechanic because I don't know if I'm being ripped off, or these guys are just incompetent. Hell I don't even really mind that I'm out $800, so long as my fucking car gets repaired, not new parts that may or may not be part of the problem.
This really could not have come at a worse time, I'm moving into a new apartment at the end of the month and I've still have to pay for my college class and textbook. I suppose I should at least be thankful that I'm only taking 1 class this semester so it won't be much, but I'm feeling spread very thin. Still at least business has been up and I've actually already made what my rent will be this week, so there's that, and I suppose there is something to be said about being able to drop $350 on car repairs and still have money left over, but god damn, I want my fucking car fixed!
