Yeah it doesn't really happen in retail, and is annoying af when people try to haggle a set price. Like at the bookstore people would try to get deals on new releases when the price is ****ing printed on the thing. Like what power do you think I, the cashier, wields in the industry ffs.

It's weird, isn't it? It's like they have this crazy idea that the retailer thinks "Oh no! If I don't give this guy/girl/undecided a special discount they'll leave!" Who the **** cares? You're talking most likely about a place that does thousands of sales a day. They're not going to be hurt by the loss of your business, and they're certainly not going to try to keep it by giving you preferential treatment.
I guess it would be fun to try it just once, to see the reaction: "This washing powder is three euro, hmm? Tell you what: I'll give you two-fifty, now I can't say fairer than that, can I?" Meanwhile, there are angry rumblings from the line of people behind you... :laughing:
