Take your Ipod to an apple store... if their supposed amazing customer service holds true, they should have a solution for you... at a cost, probably...

i checked their website for a battery replacement for an ipod nano a few years back and it was $115. there is no chance that the ipod cost me over $200 originally...

I'd still go with a sony player myself... I know they aren't the coveted Ipod, but I like the way Sony makes their stuff focused for music listening...

I'm on the look out for a new music player, I have a 30GB iPod and it's full. Bigger the gig, the better. What's the biggest GB Sony Players have?

After three years of Ipods mysteriously breaking for no reason, I finally gave up and bought a sony player.

It lasted longer than a year and is still working :D

so, if anybody here has bad luck with Apple products, go sony.
