Should be in bold right?

I put that because all of us, A LOT of us are guilty of being antagonistic and disrespectful SOME of the time. I can be downright mean, but I also feel that the majority of the time most of our contributions are at least an attempt at being positive and insightful. Sure people opinions differ greatly and we argue about it. That's half the fun, but there are people who engage in this forum who ONLY care to be antagonistic, have no interest in fostering any sort of fellowship with the members of this forum, and detract so much from the content of the thread because everyone gets so enthralled by what a smug ignoramous someone is that thats where all of there focus and energy goes ( see the "isn't pop-punk an oxymoron" thread for new and exciting evidence of this fact) and it spams up the thread! Who wants to read 6 pages of someone trying desperately to explain how there not behaving like an imbecile, when, in fact, they are?

So anyone that doesn't agree with everything you say needs to be put against a wall?

I post on a message post that has no rules or mods and it is the best music board online.. sure everyone pretends to hate each other there but no one takes it seriously or to heart plus it gives me what I need and that is a balance and the ability to know how to confront people, oh and a bloody good laugh. There is nothing wrong with that, people could learn from this 'moron'.
To have a board that is only full of positivity is to like cutting your life in half. Lighten up a little and relax.. let your hair down and learn to love everyone not just people that want to suck your d|ck.
If this person flooded boards or if people complained about it then sure do what you have to do. But From my point of view I haven't seen any reasonable arguement against him that wasn't just a whinge.

You know what fine. How about for the next week or so we flat out stop modding at all then you guys can have your perfect music forum free of power abusive mods.

No-one is pretending for one moment that this forum is meant to be a sanctuary from confrontation and discord to which everyone can come to take part in 'circle-jerk campfire sessions' where all of the members have the same opinions, hold hands, agree on everything and be on their way.

This is a music forum and music is one of the most contentious topics... we expect controversy, arguments, and the clashing of opinions (in a civil manner of course). Everyone listens to music, everyone has their own opinions on it and everyone is stimulated by different things. It makes a music forum much more interesting when you have members who challenge the way others think about music. However, there is a difference between having and backing up strong but unusual/contentious opinions and egregiously trolling to get a rise out of people.

Musicbanter is a very high profile music forum and requires moderators to maintain it. It would go to shit without them.

you do know that you can click on his name and go to find more posts and look through as many posts as you want.

This whole issue isnt even about him having a difference of opinion but from my perspective he was attacking each and every member for their opinions in one of the threads......if you were new to this forum and wanted to join into an established discussion even if your opinion was unpopular would you want to be attacked for it then stick around for more abuse from this asswipe? I don't think so

Off with his head!

The reason I put this thread up was to create a bit of debate and include members opinions (mainly for those who've been here long enough to care about the site) as to whether or not ADELE should be allowed back.
The reason for making this thread in the first place was because I was in two minds about banning him.
He's a borderline case, but I've been modding MB long enough to spot a potential disruptive member when I see one, as do the other mods and the regulars who've been posting on MusicBanter for years.
They've all seen his type here before.

My opinion of ADELE is divided.
He's either got an argumentative and disruptive personality, or he's literally taking the piss by posting provocative comments with the intention of purposefully annoying other members. In other words, a troll.
Either way, members like ADELE ruin threads.

I'm hoping this thread will be read by ADELE (I'm guessing he'll still visit until his weeks ban is up) and when his ban has expired and he comes back (should we allow him back) he'll hopefully learn how to conduct himself a bit better.

I'm sure those who would prefer an unmoderated board filled with character building hostility and a sea of spam can ask you for a link to this spectacular place you speak of.
The rest of us prefer some basic rules of civility.

I'll put it in simple terms for you because you seem to be confused here.

Tearing apart someones arguement with debate = Fine

Tearing apart someones arguement and calling them a cunt (or words to that effect) = Ban
