The moderators do not want to ban anyone on here and we PM members who are being disrespectful or offensive or are trolling etc with FRIENDLY warnings. We do this because we want threads to be readable, not full of one sentence flippant replies and also to maybe entice the multitude of guests that persuse our boards.

Debate is fine, but if a member is proved constantly wrong about the facts that they have presented but they chose to ignore this and continue to post arrogantly, then it is in everyones best interests that this is looked at behind the scenes.

The advice given was completeley ignored and so consequently this issue has arisen.

Many posters would be incredibly surprised at the amount of spam and non contributing posts that we have to deal with.

Over the last few months, great efforts have been going on behind the scenes to make MB a better and more informed site. All moderators are volunteers who give up at least an hour of their time everday to help run these boards and to improve it's profile to the outside world.

Sometimes we make mistakes but on the whole I think we are a decent bunch considering some of the vitriol we sometimes recieve behind the scenes.

The encouraging of debate regarding this matter shows what a decent bunch we all are. We could have just let this matter be dealt with by us excusively.

If anybody ever has any ideas or opinions regarding the site we can all be reached by PM and will reply fairly swiftly.

My last post in this thread -
There you go jackhammer.. all you need to do is explain the situation in full for those that missed it, so EVERYONE understands the situation. NOt just people who were exposed to it.
This thread was started asking for peoples opinions on whether someone should be banned when the majority didn't even know who this member was. Including me obviously.
The question was:
ADELE...Should He Stay Or Should He Go?
There wasn't even a button to click saying 'stay', thats classed as propaganda in my eyes. To lead people into a trap to say yes or agree with your point of view with no alternative basically.
Its like saying to someone who you flip a coin with 'heads I win, tails you lose'.
If there was an option to click a button that said something like.. 'stay', or 'I don't know enough to comment' I would of clicked the latter.
It would of been interesting to see just how many other people would of clicked it aswell.
Which is basically my point.

"We could have just let this matter be dealt with by us excusively."

It sounds like you made up your mind before you even started this thread so you don't need anyones blessing. And Im sure most people wouldn't have even noticed, especially me! :P

Uh, 'staying' is implied by being banned for a week then returning. 'Going' is being permabanned and never being able to return.

And if you read Adele's quoted post in the first post of this thread, you'll see why this thread was created. ADELE is acting as if he is being unjustly treated at the hands of tyrannical moderators and is comparing this forum to a Russian power system. So we're granting him his wish to see what the rest of MB thinks.

Get off your soapbox. The moderators aren't the gestapo, and if you prefer to be on a message board with no rules or order, then maybe you time is best occupied there, not here. Just some constructive criticism. Someone should close this thread.

You don't even know what you're talking about, do you?

How about, it was made with an alternative account...after he was banned?
This time, try actually reading the first post.

In fact I'll save you the bother...here it is again, bolded, for the hard of thinking;

It isn't fair if people with views dangerous to the status quo express these views as others may then agree and this will undermine the people who control and their views.
This person obviously believed in free speech and expressing their opinion and that is wrong as in my country they would be banned so they cannot speak no longer.
I agree that people with views that are different to the leaders lead to trouble and we have a funny word for them here in Russia. We call them "freedom liberals"
How come no member put Boney M?
I love the song about Rasputain and we always play that here in my country.
More power to the controllers and ban the free thinkers.

If this is the REPUBLIC of musicbanter, then wouldn't that make you all ... *gasp* Republicans?!

For real, if you perma-ban him he'll just come back with 5 new IP addresses and 20 new accounts and spam the boards. Let he little bugger off easy, it'll save you work in the long run.

Not everyone is BungalowBill, in fact most people aren't. Perma-ban usually works to get rid of people. It worked on you for a quite a long time It's also worked on hiu and countless other people. Bill is really the only example where someone's continued to come back.
