Self examinating question

When you read posts from the Brits do you read them applying the accent? I found myself doing this a few times and couldn't help but laugh at my own stupidity.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-17-2008 12:07 PM

I find myself reading **********EDITED *********** posts in a whiney baby noise.

That seems to work.

right-track 07-17-2008 12:41 PM

^

I realise I'm reading with an American accent when a typical American turn of phrase is used.
The most obvious case is savannah. It's not too difficult imagining her posting on a laptop, while sat on a front porch of an evening.

Also adidasss. I visualise him posting in a lonely flat hunched over his computer, eyes ringed red through lack of sleep, two to three days beard growth and occasionally breaking away from his PC to catch the odd dvd movie...alone.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-17-2008 12:42 PM

I suppose I better change that post before one or all of those whinging fucks starts whinging.

jackhammer 07-17-2008 12:51 PM

I missed the post from Urban. What was it tell me!

OT: Hmm, I do that sometimes but usually after I've seen a British film or TV show, them I'm all into that frame of mind. Mostly it's all Californian...:|

Also, most people here have good grammar so it's hard to pick up on their particular accents, they'd have to write phonetically for me to be completely into their accents...:|

Also also, when someone points out they speak with a posh accent I tend to read their posts accordingly...:|

Whatsitoosit 07-17-2008 02:11 PM

I've actually never applied an accent to the voice in my head when reading posts... this seems like too much work.

Piss Me Off 07-17-2008 02:40 PM

There's a hint of Naarfolk in me yeah, not completely though because my parents aren't local, brummies and geordies.

The Unfan 07-17-2008 02:49 PM

My inner voice has a midwest accent at all times.

Piss Me Off 07-17-2008 02:50 PM

I do have a habit of occasionally slipping into surfer dude slang. Gnarly is my favourite word :D

People actually say that where I live...

Farfisa 07-18-2008 04:24 AM

The voices in my head make it hard to do this sorta thing.

Double X 07-18-2008 07:48 PM

Not really, just a mild New England accent that I grew up with.

Unless it's that ...

Alfred 07-18-2008 08:15 PM

I read them as if it was me saying it.

lucifer_sam 07-18-2008 09:21 PM

I read everything with a strong ****ney accent. Makes it easier to refute people when they present a valid point.

Strange you can type penisney or wankerney but not ****ney

cardboard adolescent 07-19-2008 01:20 AM

i only apply accents if i read something specifically british, i always read urban's posts with an accent when he still had those backwards apostrophes with the spaces but he doesn't do that anymore.
