This seemed like a good place to put this news item about the traumatic life of a facebook mod:-
Meet people who review Facebook's reported content - BBC News ^ For some reason, as I listened to Laura, I kept expecting her to mention Trollheart's journal entries. ;) Quote:

"it's mostly pornography".. I wish. it's mostly stuff that makes you ask questions like "just how dumb people can be, really" or "just how weird people can be, really" and "does it come naturally, or do they work for it intensively for years, to achieve this level of stupidity/weirdness".

Man
If you’re involved in hiring people to scour the bowels of social media for disturbing content hit me up. If it’s text I read fast as **** and if it’s images or videos I can stomach endless amounts of anything. I’m perfectly cut out for that kind of work. |
That's what I thought. But it really gets old at some point.
There was a moment when I considered accepting/rejecting photos for 8 hours straight as an "easy job" .. I got a batch of, let's say, 40.000 photos to go through asap. And at some point, you've seen it all. Also, if you think of making that a career, I'd reconsider - afaik this is considered, by most, the lowest form of IT job, most of the time outsourced to places like Pakistan where they can pay 2$/day for it. |
lol
I’m moving to Pakistan! It’s crazy to think of all that **** getting shoveled into some poor Pakistani’s brain. Talk about throwing gas on a fire. I’m sure it becomes drudgery all jobs do. |
