Did you do your good deed today?

One of my neighbors doesn't have a car. We offered her a ride to the polling place...after we'd ascertained that she intended to vote for Obama.

Of course, I live in an area just filled with "Nobama" and "Another Democrat for McCain" signs, but that's not the point here.

And now, an Election Day prayer/eulogy/whatever.

A letter come blowin' in on an ill wind
Somethin' 'bout me and you
Never seein' one another again
Yeah, well I knew it'd come
Still I was struck deaf and dumb
Like when we kissed, that taste of blood on your tongue

Don't worry Darlin', now baby don't you fret
We're livin' in the future and none of this has happened yet
Don't worry Darlin', now baby don't you fret
We're livin' in the future and none of this has happened yet

Woke up Election Day, skies gunpowder and shades of gray
Beneath a dirty sun, I whistled my time away
Then just about sundown
You come walkin' through town
Your boot heels clickin'
Like the barrel of a pistol spinnin' 'round

Don't worry Darlin', now baby don't you fret
We're livin' in the future and none of this has happened yet
Don't worry Darlin', now baby don't you fret
We're livin' in the future and none of this has happened yet

The earth it gave away, the sea rose toward the sun
I opened up my heart to you it got all damaged and undone
My ship Liberty sailed away on a bloody red horizon
The groundskeeper opened the gates and let the wild dogs run

I'm rollin' through town, a lost cowboy at sundown
Got my monkey on a leash, got my ear tuned to the ground
My faith's been torn asunder, tell me is that rollin' thunder
Or just the sinkin' sound of somethin' righteous goin' under?

Don't worry Darlin', now baby don't you fret
We're livin' in the future and none of this has happened yet
Don't worry Darlin', now baby don't you fret
We're livin' in the future and none of this has happened yet
Don't worry Darlin', now baby don't you fret
We're livin' in the future and none of this has happened yet
None of this has happened yet
None of this has happened yet
None of this has happened yet
None of this has happened yet

Voted earlier today. I celebrated by smoking a crack pipe and robbing a liquor store afterwards.

I feel good about myself.

So who's gonna be the new leader of the free world?

Predictions please...

lucifer_sam 11-04-2008 01:27 PM

Hu Jintao

Oh wait, you said "free"...

I can't believe voting isn't compulsory in the US. Is it compulsory in the UK?

Over here you get fined if you don't vote.

DEMOCRATIC FREEDOM OR WHAT!

I used to vote Labour, until they changed their name to New Labour and turned into a sneaky New Conservative.

I grew up under Thatcherism, which was similar to Nazism...only worse!
My parents were both working class. No carpets, no money and no prospects.
When Labour finally got in, I thought... GREAT, at last a government with an interest in the working man!
How wrong I was.

Now I don't vote.

Just wondering... would you have seriously left her if she wasn't Probama (haha I can do it too!)?

Has there ever been a president with Alzheimer's? Wait... nevermind.

kthedrummer 11-04-2008 07:41 PM

This election is as good as over...Obama is the man...It looks like it won't be close at all.

I was amazed that Ralph N. is still on the ballot. How many elections has that man been in?

Ps: Obama is winning by a landslide so far.

Nader has the most sensible policy, in every way. His campaign is underfunded and ill-supported, but if he sought partisan approval he would have easily been elected 20 years ago. I seriously considered voting for him.

Regardless, he is not in it to win. Just sway the vote and bring up issues. Although this election he was very quite.

Barack obama is now the 44th president of the united states of america.

Son of JayJamJah 11-04-2008 09:26 PM

Not yet he has to survive until February.

But yes he's gonna be in and now it's show time.

My life better improve.

kthedrummer 11-04-2008 09:37 PM

The Press refused to acknowledge Nader and kept him out of debates and stuff...They still blame him for the Gore loss...

Meph1986 11-04-2008 09:37 PM

I helped voters cast their ballots for 12 hours today.

As long as she wasn't voting for McCain, I didn't care! :D I personally didn't vote for Obama and tried to convince everyone I know to vote Nader, but hey...

Just curious; why didn't you vote for him?

Because I didn't know enough about him at the time. Plus, the county in which I'm registered (Centre County) is VERY conservative, and it would have been a mistake to piss away a vote when McCain has a good deal of support here. Obama carried Centre County something like 60/40 anyways, so I wish I would have.
