can you sell your lyrics to...

what if you do not want to become a music entertainer but you want to make money off your lyrics, is there a record company or anything that buys lyrics off of your hands or something like that?

it's been part of pop music for pretty much ever. just look in the credits for most pop acts and you'll usually see 2 or 3 names following the main entertainer's.

not exactly sure how you get to be in that position but it definitely exists. i'd just contact labels for more information about selling lyrics / working as a lyricist. having an arts degree (major in english literature / minor in music theory for example) wouldn't hurt either.

i also would NOT send a sample of your work unless they ask for it. it's a common practice to turn down unsolicited material in creative / entertainment fields for legal protection on both sides.
