Body Art?

Where do you stand on this? By body art I mean tattoo's, piercings, implants etc. It's getting to the point where so many people are getting tattooed it's rare to see someone WITHOUT them. I think that having tatoo's has lost a little of it's mystique. People are getting covered in them but is it for the right reasons? I have two myself but for a reason-my Celtic band was taken from an ancient design which reflects my love for dark age British history and my tattoo that is on the back of my neck is a friendship tatoo.

If people have them for the right reasons then fantastic but already I have friends who regret many of them. I have to say though that a select few or even one tattoo on women can be highly attractive and if there is a belly button peircing then WOW, but again too many just does'nt look good or does it?

I used to have 7 facial piercings and came to the conclusion that it just did'nt suit me, so now i only have my eyebrow but do you have lot's of piercings? Are tatoo's body art or have they lost a certain mystique?

My father does the whole 'when your under my roof..' thing, but once I move out I plan on getting the man in the moon tattooed on my inner arm.

Jackhammer, I must disagree with tattoo's losing there "mystique". There is a clear line between someones tattoo that was just random or looked cool, and one that really relates to the wearer. To me at least, I find it is an easy spot when someone picked a tattoo without thinking, and when t has an air f mystery and meaning surrounding it. Also I think the more people that have piercing and tattoos the better. It means that society is opening up to non conventional ways of living.

I have a lion on each forearm because I am a Leo. (birthday is 8/21) Right now I believe I have 6 piercings all of which are in my ears. I plan on getting D J M R put across my back when the money comes my way. Each letter standing for a member of my immediate family.

Whoa, 7 facial piercings. That sounds pretty intense actually, haha.

I really think tatoos should mostly be kept small, the more obtrusive ones generally end up looking a bit tacky.

I think i've given up on the idea of a tattoo, i'd like one but it takes a certain person i think an i'm a skinny shit.

I don't have any piercings, and I don't ever plan on it, really.

Tattoos are a big fat no for me.

I'm not saying completely at all, a lot has to do with the reasons behind them and how relevant they are. Years ago a full tattoo sleeve was a complete no no, now so many people are wearing sleeveless tops with hundreds of tattoo's and it just seems so ordinary now. Damn I love tattoos and want more but only for the right reasons. I mean; the one on my neck is not visible unless my t-shirt has a low neckline.

As for the seven piercings:

3 in ear lobe
1 in ear pinna
1 in ear tragus
1 in nose
1 in eyebrow

I have nine hoops in my ears, that's it. It used to be eleven but one got got ripped out and one got infected from a little touch of frostbite. No tats, I've never been able to think of anything I'd want permanently on my body.

I can't find something that's important AND unique enough for me to get it tattooed. Even if one day I do, I wouldn't know where to put it. It's also too damn expensive to get anything worthwhile. I went through a "lets get a leg tattoo" phase until I found out it would cost me my balls to get it.

I can see why tattoos would be nice, but they're just too expensive, and I just have better things to do than plan for one for now.

As for piercings, I think they're bs. They don't mean anything. People get tattoos because its art on their bodies, or they signify something. Nobody gets a piercing because it signifies something.

Or maybe it's just me. I can't find a single logical reason why I would want to mutilate my body in such a way. Would anyone care to enlighten this ignorant mind?

I'd rather have a piercing, because if I end up regretting it, it's not like I have to wear the thing for the rest of my life (unless you get one of those huge loop things where you can see right through your ear (don't remember what they're called)).
