Life after MusicBanter

Does it exist, or is it purely wishful thinking?
What happens to us after leaving this virtual world of ours?

I myself had a 'near leaving experience' only a couple of weeks ago.
I was sitting at my computer trawling the threads for spammers when the room seemed to fill with a bright light.
I became aware of a tall figure with long hair standing next to me and calling my name out, over and over again.

"David...David...David"

I felt emotions of peace and joy. Time seemed to slow down.
I began to have complete control of all my bodily functions and what seemed to be a heightened level of conciousness and self awareness.
I became convinced that I actually had a life, with a wife and kids!
The voice grew louder.

"DAVID...DAVID...YER BLEEDIN' TEAS READY!"

Was I experiencing reality, or was it merely my brain being starved of oxygen because I was sitting too close to the radiator?

Is there life after Music Banter?

I think everyone here can agree that we experience the world of Musicbanter with a brain; which stops working when we leave Musicbanter. So even if some subatomic matter (like your "soul" which I've never heard a good definition for by the way...) there will be no way to experience it because the thing that is "you (musicbanter)" is dead.

Before someone responds to this with the classic "ah! but you haven't left Musicbanter and there's no way to gather information from the outside world so we can't know so it's useless to discuss it." I want to say unless you're going to live with Cartesian skepticism all your life (which I can completely understand) then you have to accept that we have some intelligence and knowledge. This is my argument towards this and the basic summary of how I came to the above conclusion. I can understand thinking that way but it's never gotten anyone anywhere and when it comes to examining the big questions it can bring a measure of solace but I do think we've acquired a lot of knowledge beyond I think therefore I am. We know about the enormous size of our solar system all the way to the tiny building blocks of matter. We gained this knowledge through scientific examination. Science being ultimately the act of disproving something and accepting something as highly likely when all those avenues of disproof are exhausted. There are gaps in our knowledge but I believe that if they are to be filled it won't be with an old book but with science. I think in every bit of our life we apply logic. Most people (who are sane and alive and in good health) leave buildings by door because all evidence suggests that gravity will harm you if you exit via high window windows. I think logic can be applied to the spiritual realm (though most people choose not to for some reason even though they apply it to everything else) and when you do that I think the possibility of life after death no longer looks like a possibility; but an impossibility.

We walk from one virtual world into another one.

kyleargyle 12-23-2008 11:41 AM

Maybe THIS is the real world, and the real world the virtual world.

It's all relative.

jackhammer 12-23-2008 11:53 AM

I have tried and failed many times to find a life beyond this blue screen.

dac 12-24-2008 01:06 PM

They are the apostles of Yac. Teaching his ways to all of people of the MusicBanterWorld.

I don't know about you, but I've never seen Yac...how can you be sure he even really exists?

Akira 12-24-2008 02:51 PM

I think Yac is a John the Baptist figure, preparing us all for a greater person to lead the way
