Didn't they cancel that ferry though? Or am I thinking of a different one? All I know is that we have a really nice ferry terminal here with no more ferries to Rochester

Grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, around Berkeley.

Went to college near Sacramento, at Davis.

I'm 24 now and just moved to Eugene, Oregon.

Haha yeah the ferry comment was sarcastic. It's gone since like 2009 and our ferry terminal is nothing but a few restaurants now. Nice restaurants though, a sushi place and Cheeburger Cheeburger.

That is the view of the fields behind us on a very beautiful morning last October.



This is a pic I took at the bottom of a valley called Grindsbrook Clough, which is a good morning's climb to get to the top!



And that's the view from the top of the valley - behind me is the mountain Kinder Scout.

On a clear day, there are some spots in New York where you can look across Lake Ontario and see Toronto on the other side.

Well, New York State at least. I can drive down to the border in less than 3 hours, in Niagara Falls. Waiting in line at customs is a whole other issue though

90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the border, apparently.

New York City is only an 8 or 9 hour drive from here. But I've never been there as it's quite an expensive trip!

Yeah, the CN Tower and probably some other buildings I'm guessing. I believe from the tower's lookout you can see Rochester and sometimes as far as Buffalo on a clear day, but on land you can't see across the lake. No buildings at least.
