i've got a question that i don't think warranted a full thread. is everybody else here in the states able to purchase beer at grocery stores? ultra-conservative PA not only prevents that but sells all liquor through the state store (which is overpriced, obviously).

makes buying beer and liquor a complete hassle. bullshit, i say.

I can't purchase it (for obvious reason) but our local minimart sells alcohol - it's even sold so well there when they renovated they created a special walk-in fridge area solely for alcohol. In addition to that I see it in every grocery store.

In B.C. Canada you can only buy it from B.C. Liquor Stores where everything is warm or a cold beer & wine store where it's chilled, but costs more. Either way you're always going to spend over 10 bucks for a six pack. I liked a microbrew from Grandville Island (small "island" in Vancouver) and a 6 pack would run me about 15 bucks.

In Mass only 3 individual grocery stores from a chain can sell. But if you're a mom and pop grocery store you can. So only the huge individual stores can do it, which tend to be few and far between. Those stores typically have shitty selections anyway.

I can purchase alcohol virtually anywhere imaginable here in California. When I went to Seattle, I realized that Washington also has the "state store" thing going- don't remember if it was just for liquor, or all (beer, wine, liqur).

As far as what I'm drinking tnight... 3 words: A-M-F. Also mixed in a couple texas teas..

Yeah, I had a hell of a time getting beer in PA. Conversely, here in maine you can buy liquor in grocery stores.

I've lived alot of my life in CT and FL, you can buy beer at the grocery store in both states. In FL we have liquor stores as well which carry everything, in CT they are called package stores. CT doesnt sell on Sundays, and stops selling at 9pm, so I have to go to Rhode Island to get booze. FL you can pretty much get booze whenever you want because we have it in almost all the gas stations as well, and im not sure if this has changed, but when I was younger the bars had last call at 530am, then reopened at 6am, taking a short break to clean up a bit.

Just another reason NE blows.

In Texas you can pretty much buy beer (and wine) at any grocery store...they stop selling at midnight though.
