A bunch of those. Not as fancy as the stuff I usually drink, but the small town store I shopped at has a small selection. It's pretty good actually.

Speakeasy's Blind Tiger Imperial IPA Found this at my local Albertson's (which has a great selection) on clearance for $3 for a 22 oz. so I grabbed six because at 9.8% that's a lot of drunk. I think they had really ****ty placement in the store or something because they're great and have positive reviews on Beer Advocate. |
Are strong beers commonplace in the US?
In german stores where there's a big selection one can find some hipster ales and stuff with 9 and more percent, but usually you're lucky to find more than one sort of strong beer and it's usually only about 7-8 percent. |
Craft beers here are generally at about 6-7% ABV, mainstream piss is about 4-5%. I seek out the strong stuff and it's not common persay, but we do have a lot more strong beers than you guys do based off of what you say. 9%+ beers make up about 10-15% of stores with good selection, at least in San Diego.

Well, currently I'm choking on a sip of water I just took.
But I wish I were drinking a gin and elderflower tonic (either Hendrick's or Hayman's Old Tom gin) with muddled mint, a tiny bit of blackberry syrup, and cucumber. Ooh or maybe a ginger Old Fashioned. And y'all are lucky; the beer selection in grocery stores here is dismal. One has to make the trek to a proper liquor store to find anything decent. |
Does one have to fight one's way through a mesh of tumbleweed and coyotes to get to said store?
