Mac and cheese with chipotle is to Mindfulness what chocolate milk is to Dude111.

Chula Vista 08-22-2018 02:18 PM

Tried these last night. Ridiculously awesome!

The Batlord 08-22-2018 02:23 PM

i do eat it a lot because target is like 15 mins away and the food store is 20-25. BUT i barely go to the store so when i do, i make sure to grab every box they have in the store of this stuff. i noticed it cost a 1.50 something more in the midwest when i traveled there also.

the food taste good, it only takes 3:20mins in the mircowave

The 'dutch oven vs. crock pot' debate will haunt me to my grave. Both capable of things you just can't do with a regular pot or pan.

grindy 08-23-2018 05:48 AM

How does one do the crock pot?
Sounds nasty.

That's some experimental cooking I guess.

Throw all ingredients in the pot, turn it on and forget about it for 6-8 hours.

I usually make a version of this:
https://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe...f-roast-384905

Not nasty at all, in fact, it's pretty ****ing delicious.

Frownland 08-23-2018 09:54 AM

Double whoosh

The Batlord 08-23-2018 10:05 AM

Yeah I didn't think I was being particularly subtle.

Frownland 08-23-2018 10:06 AM

I guess it's just more newfangled than we all gave it credit for.

The Batlord 08-23-2018 10:22 AM

An eruption of flavor!

Pretty much this. Just be sure to add some liquid. Beef, chicken, or vegetable stock/broth all work great. Rule of thumb is about 1/3rd up the pot to your base dry ingredients.

Mess around a few times with one and you will be converted. Like Plank says, toss a bunch of **** in, turn it on low, go to work for the day, and when you get home and settled in, NIRVANA awaits. And you only have to clean one pot.

Frownland 08-23-2018 11:15 AM

Quintuple whoosh

Cuthbert 08-23-2018 11:22 AM

Slow cooking is good yes works best with cheap cuts of meat. Stewing steak and stuff like that. Any red meat.

Just made some scrambled eggs. Nothing fancy. Milk for the creamy taste, and lots of pepper 'cause pepper is >

Yeah pepper >>>

Also chives and ground nutmeg >>>

Had that at the weekend, scrambled eggs and I've got a chive plant growing in garden so just take chives off when I need them. Really good. Had it on coburg bread.

FlavorDB

Quote:

FlavorDB comprises of 25595 flavor molecules representing an array of tastes and odors. Among these 2254 molecules are associated with 936 natural ingredients belonging to 34 categories. The dynamic, user-friendly interface of the resource facilitates exploration of flavor molecules for divergent applications: finding molecules matching a desired flavor or structure; exploring molecules of an ingredient; discovering novel food pairings; finding the molecular essence of food ingredients; associating chemical features with a flavor and more. Data-driven studies based on FlavorDB can pave the way for an improved understanding of flavor mechanisms.
A chef at work told me that you can choose any of the thousands of flavor molecules and create a recipe using ingredients that all contain that one single molecule and there’s a high likelihood that it’ll taste coherent and pleasing to most people even if the combination seems like a mismatch intuitively.

Tonight I am cooking horse entrecote. I never understood the whole negativity associated with eating horse meat. I remember a few years ago there was a whole scandal
associated with horse being served in the meatballs at an IKEA. It is really good, much better than cow. Alot leaner as well.

At first my brain kept trying to turn this into "cocaine and horse tranquilizers".

Chula Vista 09-22-2018 11:11 AM

Teriyaki chicken kabobs tonight with grilled red onion and yellow and red bell peppers, along with corn on the cob.

Best way to cook corn on the cob? Cut off any excess husk at the top and just slap it on the grill. Turn every few minutes until the outer husk is blackened (burned). Corn steams perfectly inside the husk and stays really moist.

Kind of like how Hawaiians cook/steam pork in Taro leaves.
