Anyway, does anyone have any idea why certain brands of bread (and tortillas and pastries etc) would make the roof of my mouth (toward the back of my throat) burn? What ingredient could be the culprit? It doesn't happen often but it's really annoying.

My mom has this problem with certain types of bread. Like cereal. She thinks it's an allergic to the type of bread. Bread is the only consistency with it.

Maybe, but I'm starting to suspect it's some additive or flavoring or something that I'm mildly allergic to. (As it's much more likely to happen with super cheap generic brands. Although this week it happened with those King Hawaiian dinner rolls so who knows. It's never happened with things like pasta or homemade bread.)
