During my all-staff zoom meeting the executive director asked for ideas on how to create an actively anti-racist work environment. People were saying "hire a consultant to provide trainings," "let's start a social justice book club," etc. But the looks I got when I said "hire black people" smh.

No black people at work?

No, mostly indigenous women.

California really is Alabama’s wet dream.

I imagine getting a bunch of people who aren't there to read books to do a book club would work out about as well as an MB book club.

Granted I'm from the South but I don't think I've ever met a black person who was offended by being called black. I don't think anyone actually likes saying "African American" tbh. Seven whole syllables ffs. And they don't even go that well together.

Nah dude they're offering paid work time to do the reading.
