I was trying to find a decent rebuttal to the use of the phrase “labor shortage”
I was listening to a Wall Street Journal podcast about technology and the episode was about using AI in agriculture to address the “labor shortage”. Even though it wasn’t the theme of the podcast the anti-labor bias embedded in that term was irritating the **** out of me. Basically, the language of this kind of economist who is undoubtably partial to capitalism places blames on people unwilling to do the work rather than the employer who is aghast of the idea of paying what the market really demands. There’s never once been a labor shortage; there has only been a shortage of employers willing to pay.
Ant has a point when he says let a robot pick the strawberries and give the people UBI.
