Election 2004

Who are you rooting for if you're a Democrat? Or, are you rooting for Bush? I was hoping that Clark was going to get the nomination, but now it looks like it will surely be Kerry. Kerry was my second choice, so it's not all bad. I like Edwards third and Dean fourth. Anyway... keep it civil and tell us who you like. :)

I hope Kerry wins, he seems like he would be good for prez... Anyone but Bush in 2004!

I am not American, so I haven't even followed candidates...but if my belief of a democrat in your country's belief is right, then i'd say Im a democrat.

I truly hate Ted Kennedy so much I'd be pushed to say I'm a republican. Although I'm really not either. Truly the economy can not be put on anyone but Clinton. The economy isn't gonna make a huge swerve in 4 years. The new healthcare system proposed by republicans is basically the same as the democrats were gonna put out but now the democrats are mad cause Bush proposed it while he is President. Either way I'm screwed out of a lot of money on that deal. And I truly have to agree with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I wish we had taken the shot on Sadaam that we had in the first Persian Gulf War but I think it was neccesary to get it done. Everyone talks about how no weapons have been found and how it doesn't look good now. Well we gave them about 5 months to hide/get rid of anything they had when we said "we are gonna attack". And Iraq isn't gonna go from Iraq to Heaven in one year. Maybe not even two years. But eventually I think setting it up as a Democratic state will be better for the people. So I would vote on Bush. I think he has handled things pretty well. And don't even bring the military thing into this. I live in Virginia Beach, next to Norfolk. Norfolk is the largest Naval Base in the WORLD! A large majority of Norfolk military live in Virginia Beach or work at Oceana or many of the other military locations in my city. EVERYONE and i mean everyone supports the decision to go to war here. The families, the people in the military, everyone.

Hey, I see all you guys saying that you hate Bush. I'm just wondering why. And if you say one thing I'm gonna ask you why we haven't invaded Saudi Arabia which is the probably the most rich oil country in the world. So just wondering.

I'll try and keep it short.

Our country was doing great in the year 2000 when Bush took over. Our economy was booming, stocks were up, the country was at peace with most nations of the world (not including terrorists), and everyone was really happy. You could just see how happy people were from just the look on their faces. Then comes along Election 2000 when Bush loses the popular vote, but wins the electoral vote. First of all, that's just such bull crap that that can happen, but anyway, moving on. Bush then comes into office with all these "great ideas" about how he is going to be making these huge tax cuts where people will be saving lots of money (read: a few hundred dollars if that much), but in return the country starts racking up a huge deficit. Basically, the Bush team starts spending too much money and can't afford to because they cut hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes. Great. Thanks Bush, now I will have to suffer the affects when I'm on social security later in life, because there won't be money to give out. Anyway, then we go to war, and we make asses of ourselves because there were no WMD and there really wasn't a threat. Now the whole world hates us, we are in major debt, and our country is at the lowest unemployment rate it has been in the longest time (I think since the depression in the 20s?). All I can say is... we have Bush to thank.

My brother is stationed in Newport News, pretty close to you.

Overall I agree with you. Ted Kennedy got away with murder because he's a Kennedy. Least he has absolutly no shot at being a President because of that.

My belief in politics though is that anyone who has their own opinion will never agree with another person. So choosing a candidate is a matter of finding the person that meets your viewpoints the closest, not always an easy task. So for me, I'd be a "Bush Fan". Although I strongly disagree with this new border proposal he's putting out.

Social Security and Welfare were flawed from the start. Not only cannot not keep up with inflation, it obviously will cost money to maintain it, so over time it will keep going into the hole further and further.

For this past year the unemployment rates hit 6.0%
Source: http://www.bls.gov/cps/home.htm

Unemployment rate during the depression hit 25%
Source: http://www.sp.uconn.edu/~jstiver/Eco...%20Crashes.pdf

No where near the same. Sure unemployment rates are high right now, but alot of that can be blamed to the outsourcing and sending jobs to places like Mexico (thanks to our awesome President Clinton ).

Contrary to what you think the whole world does not hate us. Sure a few countries such as France and Germany don't like us all that much at this point but the world as a whole hating us is overexagerated. Ignore the Arabs hating us as they have for decades. But things are getting better, the Iranians are starting to accept our aid more and more and working with the US government more and more.

I don't understand why people are constantly saying that there are no WMD's in Iraq. Have you been to Iraq in the past 8 months? Have you searched every inch of Iraq? Have you taken a look at the possible connections between Iraq and Syria? Or the possiblity of Saddam sending weapons to Syria? Have you excavated the entire country of Iraq in search of WMDs? .....

You see my point. This war is no where near over, although as Bush said major combat operations are. The clean up has only begun.

It's just like 9/11, it took the terrorists 15 minutes or so to kill tons of people and to trash a huge building, but it took over a year to clean it all up....

Russia has quiet a bit of oil, why don't we invade them? If anyone thinks this is just about oil, get a clue. We've got more Oil straight of our coasts and in Alaska then Iraq has as a whole. Course liberals don't want to hurt our precious earth...
