I was given a warning from Youtube, that it will drop my browser soon. Trying to find more inforamtion about it, I came across an articles about Youtube "muting" videos, and I found a video of a disenchanted youtuber.
I noticed reading the comments mostly all the videos they allow anymore are the "live" versions of songs not official music videos.

what do you use it for homemade videos, or music etc.
what are your thoughts of Youtube, do you think it will be totally different then it was when it started out.

Yea, the sheer amount of attention Youtube gets from the media is enough to warrant even more advertising dollars put into the site and, if it isn't already, it's probably going to get moderated down to micro-management of content to a ridiculous extent.
Eventually the company will probably be bought out and will be no longer recognizable as far as original concept.

It's the fate of any growing net business. Starts out small and free, and multi-million-expansion leaves less room for the originality that created the business in the first place. Plus the visibility creates a huge problem in the copyright margins, so naturally the content is going to be tightened up.
I wouldn't be surprised if eventually, video submitters will be required to block out any brand logos in their videos.

The only thing you can do is create your own better version and wait for it to fall to the same smoking gun.

I think the whole thing is bullshit. The original beauty of YouTube was the notion that anybody and everybody could publish videos to the net. YouTube became so popular because of the whole Web 2.0 idea: the idea that the internet is a democratizing place where everybody has the chance to publish their material and have it viewed by the world. Of course, this is not the case, and it's getting worse by all of these 'changes' and investments in the site. I know it is the nature of any net business but it just makes me angry.

The whole point of YouTube in the first place was putting yourself on the tube - that anybody could publish themselves on the internet. Now with all of this commodification, it's changing and all the little user channels are being wiped out by larger channels owned by big corporations. It sucks :(

I guess my browser will be considered outdated for Youtube soon.
I share my computer with my brother and he loaded it up with programs, so I like him do all the maintenance and techincal work on it. I've been to other sites that need higher versions of programs, thats not a big deal for me. It's not just that issue but everything together about Youtube that has me :confused:

This might be a bad example but I remeber a video of kid dressed like Darth Vader in a kilt playing the theme to "Star Wars" and it was pulled off for copyright infringements. Now when I watch a music video I get a little pop-up to buy it on Amazon or iTunes -it's like one giant commercial.

What browser are you using?
It's not uncommon for sites to require updated browsers. It's more of a technical thing than a marketing scheme.

Updating your browser is pretty simple. Usually it only requires you clicking the "ok" button when the prompt for it arrives.

Wow. That's crap. I use Safari as my browser so I'm surprised I haven't received the same thing.

I use Firefox regularly, as well as IE when Firefox acts up. Redundancy is awesome.

I have MSIE I don't know the exact number, IE7 or lower I'll eventually get around to up-dating it. I'm a lo-tech guitar player, what can I say.
