^ Hehe, yeah that iraq comment was not implying my approval of that that decision. But there are nukes out there that are capable of some chaos, of course, none of them were found in Iraq.
But yeah that link was posted as an alternative theory to simply saying it was inevitable and a natural disaster. I never said it was true, but it certainly remains a possibility. But more interestingly in that article is the timing and miscommunications of the entire incident itself

jibber 01-16-2005 11:27 PM

yeah, I don't buy that it wasn't a natural disaster for a minute, but it's pretty sad how unprepared the affected countries were for the disaster.

Nothing wrong with not having as much intelligence, it could always come from age. The problem is when people base judgements on this intelligence (or lack there of) and are unwilling to change these judgements.

everyone here is so into this subject! whoa...

Can somebody tell me what the name of the fault line that caused the tsunami was? If it's been mentioned already then I appologize for asking this, but if someone would just tell me that would be great. I am too lazy to read.

franscar 01-20-2005 09:48 AM

It was the Andaman Thrust, where the Australasian plate meets the Burmese plate, and the earthquake measured 9.0 on the richter.

jesus 01-20-2005 09:53 AM

thanks

I can't understand why so many people believe in God

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-25-2005 12:32 PM

Because some people feel more secure thinking someone is watching over them.
Because believing gives you something to live for.
Because they can turn to God/the bible whenever they are feeling lost confused alone etc...
Because its a way of life as much as a belief.
I dont belive in God by the way, but I can see why people do. Im sure there are more reasons than this, but Im tired and I still cant find my other shoe..

Mixin 01-25-2005 05:10 PM

He watches us?

Man, this god is a pervert

No offense, but you probably haven't pulled your head out your ass long enough to even think of a logical reason. You are the most ignorant person I have ever met on these boards throughout the many posts I've seen you make.

blackTshirt 01-26-2005 01:24 AM

^ yeah exactly!!

jasonparker 01-26-2005 09:17 AM

i am in Turkey and i donot know if you hear about but there are still earthquakes here. from 1999 these earthquakes started and continued...

Sneer 01-26-2005 03:20 PM

earthquakes happen and have ALWAYS happened. if an earthquake was the signal for our last days earth would have been buggered millions of years ago. when fireballs start slamming onto my house from the sky then i may consider it being our last days. but even then there'd be the possibility that someone just had too much curry on a plane and the flushing system resembles a mere hole.

just as easy as saying "i can't understand why so many people dont believe in God." Sorry, but you can't prove or disprove anything about his/her/it's existance.

blackTshirt 01-31-2005 02:54 PM

it's easy to believe in our good days that there is someone up there to help us and it's easy to believe when we're down that we're alone and there's no one to help us. the thing is..we should stay at one of these 2...i really wanna think there is a God and i don't really care if that's stupid or not

well said, and also its less stupid than putting "I dont understand why so many people believe in God", thankfully no1 is that idiotic though.....

anti_poptart_chik 02-01-2005 10:11 PM

Has anyone else read the da vinci code, it like gives u an alternative to god. after i read it i went n looked up all the subjects the book raised n was suprised to see that it was basically all true. this is like good for me as im an atheist but one thing that the book does raise is that although the bible may b just someones story, these people originally worshipped women, which in its own way is believing fully in the power of women, so yeh everyone has their personel choices we really shouldn't knock that

jibber 02-01-2005 11:49 PM

^ yeah, its a really good book, everyone should read it.

.....well, go on, it's not a short book, get reading
