why not make the age 6.

then it will be retarted to drink, since it wont be what all the cool older kids do. then kids will stop drinking and people will stop being morons with alcohol.

problem solved.

i wholeheartedly agree with you. But as a 16 year old meself, im not like one of these people that get drunk on a WKD, i enjoy a moderate drink with friends and i prefer remembering what we did! Again its just a bit of a stereotype that all 16 year olds are doing it. Some of us have matured somewhat!

the main argument here is that people are doing it to be cool or rebellious. i dont think thats the reason at all. i think kids are doing it because its fun....hey, theres an idea. iv been drinking for a long time, and since i finished school this summer im drinking practically everyday. i know its rediculous. but i grab a few drinks and catch up with friends i havnt seen for a while. or go to parties and drink and meet people. drinking lowers people inhibitions which is mainly good, but can be bad in some cases. if your with friends then i dont think anything seriously bad will come of it. iv been drinking with people and seen some bad stuff like my friend going hypothermic from drinking too much and people getting their stomach pumped. if your with friends, they take care of you and you learn a valuable lesson..in most cases. have any of you ever seen a teenager grab some beers or spirits or whatever have a swig and say 'thatll learn my parents/teachers/government!! thatll learn 'em good." ?? cant say i have. in most cases rediculous amounts of alcohol are met with broad smiles and a high five. in my experiance anyway..

Hahaha, funny you should mention that. I went to a party recently, and one of my friends is the type of guy who's always anti-government, anti-establishment, basically anti-everything, even more so after a few drinks. If any of you have ever seen That 70's Show, he's basically Hyde, without the fro and aviators. So we're all having a good time, just drinking, kicking back and talking about random stuff, when he goes on about one of his government conspiracy theories (something we've all grown accustomed to, and after listening to quite a few of his drunken ramblings, something we've all come to enjoy). So he goes on a tirade about the government surpressing the youth's ability to reason and develop independant thinking patterns through standardized curriculums, and somehow he links this to a recent rumour of raising the drinking age a year higher. So at the height of his little rant, he grabs a bottle of bacardi, takes a long swig, and shouts at the top of his lungs "Well this is one guy they're not gonna silence! HOW D'YA LIKE THEM APPLES YOU GOVERNMENT PIGS!" Then he kind of fell over a bit after getting up too quickly and stubbed his toe on the coffee table, at which point he launched into a violent and mostly incoherant string of swear words.
