Here's a fun one. I was trying to get rid of AdWare by deleting it from the registry. Whatever I did, Windows Explorer (not internet explorer) seems to not work.

The weird thing is though, my desk top still works as a base of operations for files. Also, if I go to save something somewhere, I have full access to all the folders and programs that reference folders (e.g. iTunes) but not if I attempt to get there via Windows explorer.

When I click on a folder on the desktop it says "C:\Users\Brow\Desktop\Files No such interface supported"

And of all the weird things, I can't save files from Paint (screenshots). I'm thinking I'll just scrap the thing and grab a new system.

Thoughts?

Did you create a "Restore" point?

If you did, then restore to it, then follow these steps:

How to Clean Up a Windows Spyware Infestation

...and you should be all good. The link is for older OS's (XP), but I still use the tools it references for Vista, 7, & 8 with sufficient results.

My computer is pissing me off.

I wasn't sure where to post this but I have this weird issue with my computer lately where it will tell me that I've unplugged my headphones when they've remained plugged in, or that I've plugged them in when they've been in the whole time, thus resulting in sound issues.

Does anyone know why this might happen?

Check to see if your soundcard has driver updates.. or maybe the headphone wire is ****ting out and not being recognized.

Do you still get sound from the headphones when it says they aren't plugged in?

Nope. Rebooting usually helps but would still be nice to avoid.

I'm not amazing with computers but I would def start by checking the soundcard drivers and the device driver to see if your headphones are being recognized when they aren't working.

Also, if you have a ****ty pair laying around try those.. If you don't you can find some old walkman style headphones at walmart or something for cheap just to test and than return them when your done.

Method 1:
Connect the headset to a different USB port or on a different computer and check the issue occurs.

Method 2:
Disable speakers and other audio devices temporarily:
You can temporarily disable the other devices from the playback devices, enable only the headset and also set headset as the default device.
a. Click Start and Control Panel.
b. Click Hardware and Sound and then Recording.
c. Under this, right click on the empty area and make sure “Show Disabled Devices” has a check mark on it. If the headphones are disabled, it will now show up in the list.
d. Right click on the device and select “Set as Default Communication Device”. Click OK.

Method 3:
Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check if it helps.
Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter
