Have you guys looked into the Jungian Functions at all? You can dig way deeper than doing an inventory.
This is Jung explaining the Functions, it's super dense but definitive: Classics in the History of Psychology -- Jung (1921/1923) Chapter 10 All of the MBTI books I've skimmed have been pretty bad by comparison. Here's a visual chart that shows the functions of all the types: http://thephilosophicalboy.files.wor...04526499_o.jpg I don't like how MBTI classifies the J/P distinction, here's a good post about it. As an INTJ, my dominant Ni is a perceiving function, so it's kinda confusing that I'm classified as a J via MBTI. Lately I've been in the habit of trying to decipher the functions of all the people around me. It's a fun mental exercise. Unfortunately I live with 2x ISTJ and an ISFJ =( |
I'm still INFP. I've never tested as anything else.

Yeah, I looked into the cognitive functions of the types. I think some people may be thrown off by the test because it oversimplifies your personality. You still essentially have every other type within you, you just tend to favor certain traits over the others. I assumed that automatically, but apparently some people think it's black and white, you're the personality you get from the test. If it were that simple, there would be 16 types of people in the world.
I think there's merit to the test, I don't think it's the most accurate way to judge someone's personality, but they seem to be pretty close to the general area of their personality, especially with the most common traits of the personality type. For example, I didn't realize it before, but certain people really do not see past the present moment very well, they only deal with cold hard facts and the current reality of things, and they have a lot of qualities of "S" types. Certain people are very structured, some of them to the point where they try to force you to be structured, so they're "J" types. You dig deeper and you can see associated personality disorders with the types and what not, it's pretty interesting, I feel like I can type a lot of the people I know, and even some of the people I don't know if I feel interested to do so. I'll have to do some more research on this, but it's pretty cool. |
I believe I'm most prominently INTP but I could easily be ISTP as well i.e. a little ambiguous on the sensing/intuition part.
edit: A more detailed test suggested that I was actually more ambiguous when it came to J/P than N/S so a definite INTP prominence for me. |

Haven't you ever come across people that are so similar to people you have met in the past and you know how to handle them based off of that experience? |
Depressed personality.
