My Myer-Briggs type is INFP

Howard the Duck 07-07-2011 07:42 AM

i just took the Myer-Briggs and got the same as tore:-

Quote:

The Mechanic

As an ISTP, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you deal with things rationally and logically. Your secondary mode is external, where you take things in via your five senses in a literal, concrete fashion.

ISTPs have a compelling drive to understand the way things work. They're good at logical analysis, and like to use it on practical concerns. They typically have strong powers of reasoning, although they're not interested in theories or concepts unless they can see a practical application. They like to take things apart and see the way they work.

ISTPs have an adventuresome spirit. They are attracted to motorcycles, airplanes, sky diving, surfing, etc. They thrive on action, and are usually fearless. ISTPs are fiercely independent, needing to have the space to make their own decisions about their next step. They do not believe in or follow rules and regulations, as this would prohibit their ability to "do their own thing". Their sense of adventure and desire for constant action makes ISTPs prone to becoming bored rather quickly.

ISTPs are loyal to their causes and beliefs, and are firm believers that people should be treated with equity and fairness. Although they do not respect the rules of the "System", they follow their own rules and guidelines for behavior faithfully. They will not take part in something which violates their personal laws. ISTPs are extremely loyal and faithful to their "brothers".

ISTPs like and need to spend time alone, because this is when they can sort things out in their minds most clearly. They absorb large quantities of impersonal facts from the external world, and sort through those facts, making judgments, when they are alone.

ISTPs are action-oriented people. They like to be up and about, doing things. They are not people to sit behind a desk all day and do long-range planning. Adaptable and spontaneous, they respond to what is immediately before them. They usually have strong technical skills, and can be effective technical leaders. They focus on details and practical things. They have an excellent sense of expediency and grasp of the details which enables them to make quick, effective decisions.

ISTPs avoid making judgments based on personal values - they feel that judgments and decisions should be made impartially, based on the fact. They are not naturally tuned in to how they are affecting others. They do not pay attention to their own feelings, and even distrust them and try to ignore them, because they have difficulty distinguishing between emotional reactions and value judgments. This may be a problem area for many ISTPs.

An ISTP who is over-stressed may exhibit rash emotional outbursts of anger, or on the other extreme may be overwhelmed by emotions and feelings which they feel compelled to share with people (often inappropriately). An ISTP who is down on themself will foray into the world of value judgments - a place which is not natural for the ISTP - and judge themself by their inability to perform some task. They will then approach the task in a grim emotional state, expecting the worst.

ISTPs are excellent in a crisis situations. They're usually good athletes, and have very good hand-eye coordination. They are good at following through with a project, and tying up loose ends. They usually don't have much trouble with school, because they are introverts who can think logically. They are usually patient individuals, although they may be prone to occasional emotional outbursts due to their inattention to their own feelings.

ISTPs have a lot of natural ability which makes them good at many different kinds of things. However, they are happiest when they are centered in action-oriented tasks which require detailed logical analysis and technical skill. They take pride in their ability to take the next correct step.

ISTPs are optimistic, full of good cheer, loyal to their equals, uncomplicated in their desires, generous, trusting and receptive people who want no part in confining commitments
i guess it's about 80% accurate - i am pretty much fearless and am into taking chances with my life though I haven't tried any extreme sport

it doesn't say anything about my hypochondria, though, which is basically worry about developing some disease that'll take a lot of money to heal

i didn't take the personality disorder test, i don't think it'll be accurate as i have schizophrenia

Of the three in which I rate highly, Paranoia is the only one that I read and can admit to being thoroughly accurate. :\

I think I'd have rated worse if I'd considered internet social situations, but I didn't think they counted.

Mykonos 07-07-2011 10:10 AM

Sadly, I think that it was an accurate summary of my craziness.

Paedantic Basterd 07-07-2011 10:12 AM

Meh, perhaps I'm in denial of the others. Or I read too much into the one, because it's what I'm most comfortable with. You can never really tell when you do these things yourself, but at the same time, I'm now mildly curious about whether or not it amounts to anything.

I don't believe I'm insane, but at the same time, I thought the definition of paranoid personality types was very reasonable, and a lot of good advice.

My best friend was telling me on the phone that his little brother is convinced that we were both schizoids. I was unfamiliar with the term, but now that I've gotten this, I suppose he could be right. Also, I find nothing wrong with it.

Quote:

Quick Summary:
People with schizoid personality disorder avoid relationships and do not show much emotion. Unlike avoidants, schizoids genuinely prefer to be alone and do not secretly wish for popularity. They tend to seek jobs that require little social contact. Their social skills are often weak and they do not show a need for attention or acceptance. They are perceived by others as humorless and distant and often are termed "loners."

Symptoms of Schizoid Personality Disorder:
Weak interpersonal skills
Difficulty expressing anger, even when provoked
"Loner" mentality; avoidance of social situations
Appear to others as remote, aloof, and unengaged
Low sexual desire
Unresponsive to praise or criticism
I almost never get angry. I don't see the point in getting angry about things, though. For example, one of my friends shot an airsoft pistol in my apartment, breaking the mercury strip in a sprinkler, and ruining all of my stuff, and putting me out of a home. I didn't even chastise him for it. I said "Nice shot" and we carried on being friends. He helped me clean up and move, why get mad?

If people start to raise their voice at me at work, where I work at a gas station, I just go monotone and repeat myself while staring through their eyes. I don't look at them, I glaze over and look through them.
Usually creeps people out enough to drop it.

I'm almost 24, and I've never been on a date. Neither has my buddy mentioned above. I'm not a virgin, some chick that I found to be fairly nice but highly unattractive got me drunk, got everybody else out of the house, handcuffed me, and took me by force. There's the point of no return once you start getting wood even though you're not attracted to the person...

I wasn't trying to save myself for marriage (at the not being on a date yet rate I'm going, that would be never), I was just trying to make it special. Well, handcuffs are a hell of a special story. Blah humbug. Every girl I've ever fallen for (in the last 10 years) has been in a steady relationship the whole time (with a douche) or turned lesbian. I've lost at least 3 potential mates to other women.

===========

I'm not a perfect definition of a schizoid, but it does help put a name to some of my attributes. And due to the King Crimson song, I feel honored actually. But there's more that makes me than these tests can tell.

I'd really like to be studied.

TheRealHimself 07-08-2011 07:10 AM

I always get ISFP when I take these tests.

I don't get how you can be high in everything. WTF.

Mykonos 07-15-2011 03:27 AM

Well, she is schizophrenic and manic-depressive, or she might have just put the bad answers in intentionally to look pitiful. The quiz is (comparitively) good, but it's still not difficult to figure out that you get the bad scores by answering yes to everything.

Yes of course, that would make sense. I was going to tease you and say, sure, your "friend" filled out the survey. ;)
