Default Google Earth Music Library ( Need Computer Experience )

EDIT: I've finished this project. Uploading screenshots soon.

Original Thread:

I have an idea and I need somebody who knows how to utilize Google Earth's easily re-workable nature/patch building ease.

Basically my idea is to use Google Earth as an organizer for my music files (music folders). Where each country will bring up a folder of music from that country. It'd also be preferable to be able to use the Flight Simulator function to "fly to" countries where my music is located.

It's sort of a mix of game and serious music organization. I just think it'd be the coolest thing ever.

A lot of the stuff needed is already in place by default ( for example you can set markers that bring up specific in-program folders )...

any idea on how this could be done?

That's probably the coolest thing I've ever heard.

Um... I'm going to have to download GE so I can get some background on it. I've used it before, but not extensively.
But generally speaking, if you can set a marker that brings up specific folders located in the GE program directory, then theoretically, you can just put music folders into the respective location's folder.

What would be a really cool implementation would be if you could skim the GE program down to only the functionality you needed, and added a music player directly into the program that would load and play the music files you select per region. Obviously, that would take significantly more talent and knowledge than I think anyone here at the forum has, though.

That's what I was thinking. I think if I rework it enough it can be done... but the problem is I doubt GE will reconize mp3 files in one of it's directories. I haven't found a way around that yet, but I know from the fan patches something simular can be done.

Ha, I wish I could get it to work.

I've been messing around with it today, it's a bit more tricky than I thought it would be.

Yeah I know little to nothing about computers, so I wish I could really contribute lol. The only thing I could think of is a google map mod. The only reason I say mod, is because I used to play lots of video games lol. I bet someone has a modding program for it. If not, make one (easily said by a computer noob). That's all I got lol.

It does sound really, really cool though!

The sad thing is that you would have to organize your music by country. That might not be a big deal to some, but I wouldn't like it.

What I mean is when you go to England, you should probably open your England folder with Kate Bush, Queen and Oasis in it instead of opening say folder Q that has bands starting with Q in them.

Bump - I've got this working and it's working great! Wasn't quite able to attach a music player into the program, but using a custom skin for something like WMP works just fine. Upload screenshots or video soon.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
