On an unrelated note, may I be temporarily banned during the month of January to help me concentrate on my A level exams?

You can request a ban for that, no problem...
But if you really want respect, you can simply exercise the self-restraint necessary to get important matters taken care of without needing to be forced away from distractions.

Believe me, around here, that is a HARD THING TO COME BY. We even had a well established, respected, mature, hardworking, intelligent, awesome MOD that required being banned so he could attend to school work.

Now, we can do this one of two ways...
You can request a temp ban, and take the easy way out.
OR... you can man up and extricate yourself from this website for the needed time period, but if you break your promise, you'll either be ridiculed for eternity or be banned for it, or not be penalized at all... depending.

So.
Shall we discuss terms?

I'm well confused now. In order to win respect, I must simply exercise self control instead of requesting a ban. I'm not sure I understand..... Unless organizing bans is a tedious job and you'd really I rather didn't give you the work? In which case, I'll ask Urban. There is nothing he wants more than to see me banned.

Another thing I don't get is why might I be banned anyway for not exercising self restraint over something I'm the only one who will suffer for?

If it would make you happier, I'll just try my hardest to avoid this forum for a month, but I don't see how this should be my way of getting respect. Surely the quality of what I say ought to take precedence?

Unless that whole thing was all a bit of a joke. I'm past jokes this time of night!
