Leaving on an 18-night cruise tomorrow!

I'm excited, this is the first time I've been anywhere outside of the United States that isn't Mexico or Jamaica. I'm gonna look like a total tourist. It should be an amazing trip.

This is our itinerary:
7/3 - Depart from Southampton, England
7/6 - Gibraltar, UK
7/8 - Ajaccio, Corsica
7/9 - Cannes, France
7/10 - Barcelona, Spain
7/11 - Ibiza, Spain
7/12 - Malaga, Spain
7/14 - Lisbon, Portugal
7/15 - Vigo, Spain
7/17 - Arrive in Southampton, England

I know that a lot of MB-ians hail from various corners of the planet, so I was wondering if any of you have any advice or general commentary for me. Thanks!

Wow! I'm guessing that it's mainly a cruise on the Mediterranean? It sounds awesome. I hope you have a lot of fun and take lots of pictures!

Looks like a great cruise. The weather will be hot by the time you reach the Straights of Gibralter.
Corsica is Napoleon's birthplace and the island is steeped in history.
Never been to Cannes, but it's a classy place.
Barcelona. The Nou Camp stadium is a definite visit along with the unfinished cathedral.
Ibiza is the scene of my first ever holiday with my mates.
Absolutely awesome night life if you like to party. Doesn't look like you'll have much time to go on a 48 hour bender though. :/
Malaga. I've been, but don't recall anything of note.
Lisbon is a great port city also steeped in history and one of those places everyone should visit if they ever get the chance.
Know little about Vigo.

Should be a memorable holiday. :)

I presume you've been to Lisbon, then?

Went on a day visit in 98 during a holiday based on the Algarve.

Good man! How did you like it?

And whilst in the Algarve, did you, by any chance get to know this rather long street full of life at night called "Rua da Oura", I believe?

I remember a very long street lined with bars with a crossroads running through the middle of it, if that's any good.
God knows what it was called though!

Good heavens man, I used to spend summers there as a child!

Small world.

The hotel we stayed at was off a road at one end, leading towards a private beach in a small cove surrounded by cliffs.
You used to be able to reach the other end of the same road by following the cliff edge along the coastline.
Ring any bells?

Edit: the old town was situated at the opposite end of the road from our hotel.
Looong walk.

I loveeeeeee Gibralter. It's like England... but with the weather!!

I felt great there, sports bars at every turn, beautiful marina, red post boxes. Have a great time.

Heh, there are so many hotels there...I might know the on you're speaking of, but at the moment it isn't ringing any bells.

We used to stay at "Oura Hotel", great times.

If you're going from Southampton to Gibraltar I wouldn't be surprised if you have an unofficial stop in a Channel Island.

We get loads of cruise ships doing that in Guernsey.

Thanks for the input folks :-)

I'll try to compile a dozen or so of the best pics when I get back and post them here.

Forgot to say: in Lisbon, make sure you have a look downtown, or at the "Baixa".

Duly noted

Sounds awesome! If I went to Spain, I'd want to see the caves (and cave-houses) I've heard about towards the south of the country.
