No the man has a point. If you're going to potentially **** up someone's life over something you don't even see as wrong, you are compromising your principles.

Yeah, JWB, I get where you're coming from. Many cops do have to put their personal thoughts on the back burner. I guess it's just a matter of opinion whether that's something admirable (sacrificing their own beliefs to enforce the laws that society chooses) or not (they're just doing it for the money), although I might just be too idealistic. If you make a thread about cops in the Current events forum, I'll be sure to stop by.

I have more of a problem with their general attitude of thinking they are above the law. Driving while on cell phones, speeding, etc, they ride around breaking the law everyday and protect each other from getting in trouble. If I was a cop I'd pull those scumbag fuckers over and be exiled within a week. If they were representative of law abiding citizens fit for what their job is supposed to be I wouldn't have a problem with cops.

From what I've heard cops used to be a part of the community, and I wish it actually was that way.

I don't think you become a cop for the money. Assuming it's not just a power trip thing, I think it's probably more that you let yourself "go with the flow" to avoid getting fired and ****ing your life over. Path of least resistance I guess.

Never saw it. Not sure what your getting at.

Edit: Yes, Serpico I guess. I just read a brief description of it.

Cop busts cop.

That's definitely a very big problem in most departments. There's a sort of "us versus them" culture that can be very hard to break, where cops break the law and cover each other's backs.

Could be. In the end, cops are just people, and there are all kinds of people.
