On a serious note, you might want to learn a martial art that takes into account pressure points, that's the fastest way to end fights quickly and with minimal effort.

Since i'm short i'm more partial to Judo. I haven't had formal training but I do know a few moves that friends have taught me. Since i'm lower to the ground it works to my benefit.

But like, sometimes I just want to know what to do incase I ever do get into a situation where I need to defend myself. I don't ever want to wish I knew more after the fact, or not have the chance to wish I knew more. Do you know what I mean? Self defense is so important, and I think taking the opportunity to learn it and talk about it is important as well.

This was a serious note.

when I said on a serious note, I meant that my last response wasn't as serious...not yours.

In my limited fight experience, which is some but not that much, a fight quickly becomes a wrestle where a good thing would be to sit on top of the other person and punch him repeatedly in the face until someone pulls you off. I've never actually seen a whole fight between people who are upright, exchanging blows and kicks in a civilized manner. Maybe they start out like that for a second or two before it ends up on the floor or street.

If I wanted to get better at fighting, I would train something that would help me do that better. Some kind of submission fighting, like Jiu-Jutsu or something. The only reason I've fought as an adult is because someone drunk decided they wanted to fight me, so that would be the fight and scenario I would like to be able to handle/win.

I'd look up some military techniques or something. Just some quick stuff to learn. My cousin just got back from a Marines training thing and he could probably kill me in 10 seconds.

If you're gettin jumped, kick em in the balls. It's a pussy move, but if someone's like robbing or mugging you then go for it. If it's a fight in front of classmates or something, don't go for that... Doesn't matter your size or technique so much, you just have to be able to channel an inner beast if you wanna win a fight. Adrenaline starts flowing and you just feel unstoppable. Man, i miss that feeling from sports. If you're intense as hell and just refuse to lose, you'll be tough to beat. Like tore said, the fight 99% gonna go to the ground, that's something I've always banked on. Then just try to use your leverage and ground skills to kick his ass. Use their moves against them, and pounce on opportunity to strike. First one to make a mistake usually loses. Get an open shot to the face while hes on the ground and you've basically won the fight

Exactly another reason for me liking Judo....I get to the wrestle position very quickly....I dodge their punches and go straight for the grapple. When i'm in the grapple position then I can choose what I'd like to do since I have more options and it was going to head there anyways.

Not a good example, considering the details that actually mattered having little to do with martial arts training and the resulting stances and poses employed that ended up contributing absolutely nothing. Notice the actual exchange of blows that ended the fight. Wild swings from our ninja that all missed except the last lucky one. Considering the reach advantage, the luck was a little one-sided to begin with.

That's the funniest part about it. He spends the first 5 minutes of the confrontation in crouching tiger mode, but when sh*t gets real he just goes Jerry Springer on the guy.

Use the force, Conan!

Seriously, though, the best thing to do is to learn to avoid fights. You can get in deep legal trouble if you go around punching people's teeth out, and ripping people's limbs off. Even if it's in self defense.

Try out Krav Maga. It's a really brutal and badass martial arts form, and can help you out in any situation.

I have a guide to Krav Maga, looks interesting. It's israeli right?

Thanks for all the replies guys, I've been reading them. I've just using my mobile all day and it's hard to type a response to each. Appreciate it!
