Words/Names You Can Never Spell Correctly

There are some words and names that I have a mental block everytime I try to spell them, and I never learn no matter how many times I have to look them up.

Examples
Niedermayer ("e" instead of "a")
Randomly (always go with the double "l")

I sometimes have issues with "recommend", where I'll instinctively type "reccomend", even when I know it's not spelled that way.
"unnecessary" is another one where I sometimes spell it "uneccessary" or "unneccesary".
I also find the need to recite the "I before E except after C" rule more often than I'd like to admit.

Heh, I used to spell "originally" as "origionally" for the longest time, until around 2005, when I arbitrarily decided to use spell-check. Boy, was I embarrassed. The sad thing is no one ever corrected me. I wish they had. :(

I'm guilty of "recommend" as well.

The originally thing reminds me of when I used to work in a bakery. We had to write on cakes and one of my co-workers wrote "Congradulations" on one, and the person he was writing it for corrected him. He told me that he'd always spelled it that way, and had written it on other cakes before too. I guess everyone else was just too embarassed to correct him.

Email, and relation. I Alllways end up typing emial and realtion, though they're more consistent typos than anything! Can't think of any words I always spell wrong... at the moment anyway.

I always used to have problems with the word "definitely". When I was a kid I would often spell it "definetly" or "defenitly". Horrible, I know :o:

One word that I notice a lot of other people have trouble with, but I don't, is "ridiculous". I always see people spelling it as "rediculous" and I can't even tell you how much that grates on my nerves. I have a friend who constantly spells it that way, even after being corrected numerous times, and she is a 4th year English major in university. Go figure.

For me, the worst word is restaurant. I always spell it as restaraunt.

It's funny because "restaraunt" seems closer to the way the word is actually pronounced.

Incidentally, I have a similar problem with the word "guarantee".

Restaurant was one of my spelling bee words :) I found it easier to remember if you think of it as where you rest a(nd) (yo)u rant because of the bad food

I always mix up the i and e in receive

Exactly! That's why I screw it up.

I almost went to one, but I was way too shy. My English teacher bought me a bottle of Sprite for spelling seizure right. It might as well have been $1,000.

I don't know why, but I can never spell Matthew McConnaughy's last name properly. I've had to check it every single time I've gone to spell it (which has been numerous occasions, as I had a guinea pig named Matthew McConnaughy) and just can't seem to remember it, ever.

I usually spell it McConaughey, McConnaughey, or something similar. It feels like there needs to be an 'e' in it for some reason.
