That's... not a very brilliant advice to be honest.

Sparky 05-09-2011 02:59 PM

of course not

But if he's seriously chemically dependent, it's not the worst alternative.

It's better then cigs, and might help with stress or anxiety in a semi-healthier way.

If the problem is you hate yourself, and thats why your drinking its not going to do ****, but if your addicted to being in a different state of mind I'd say at least try it.

s_k 05-09-2011 03:33 PM

I dunno man. Too much is never good, doesn't depend what.
You can even die of drinking too much water.
I say he doesn't go for an alternative :D.

Sansa Stark 05-09-2011 05:59 PM

No, that really is horrible advice. The point is quitting a habit that dulls his emotional/mental pain. It will just make things worse and make him more chemically dependent, and what is he going to do when the weed doesn't work anymore? Move onto another drug or go back to drinking.

Sparky 05-09-2011 07:33 PM

Why would weed stop working? I don't think you realize how good they are at growing it now.

I don't see any possible way it will make him more chemically dependent, the point is to substitute a physically harmful chemical for one that isn't.

It's not a fix for going sober, it's just a better alternative if he's admitting he's an addict.

When I smoke weed, I don't feel like drinking. That's a positive in my book.
Truth is, I had stopped smoking weed altogether a while back, because I wasn't getting anything positive out of it, but I just recently started up again and it's like new again, and when I smoke, I don't think about alcohol in the least. This is a huge thing for me, since I normally can't go a day without drinking.

Comparing the physical negatives of both substances, I think there's an obvious winner in regards to which I should be doing.
I just need a steady connect now.

Decide to finally give up drinking for good and **** gets worse...figures. Im not seeing the point really...if this is some kind of test or just some just hoping for failure. Its almost a no win situation.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with alcohol, Boozinbloozin. Like some of the others here, my family has had problems with alcoholism (several uncles, an aunt, my grandpa- he used to drink but quit years ago).

My uncle actually died in August from complications due to alcoholism (he was always drinking vodka and stuff like that). Anyway, I know how hard he struggled with it through the years, so I can only imagine the same for other people in similar situations. I don't have any wise words or advice, I just wanted to say I wish you all the best. http://www.blokksberg.com/images/smilies/huggy.gif http://www.blokksberg.com/images/smi...eartshape1.gif

You gotta be more specific if you want some advice based on this.

From what you wrote I'd say it's a case of something normal(aka ****ty) happened but you don't have a good outlet (aka alcohol) so your extra frustrated because your first positive step didn't have a positive outcome.

Chronic drinking gets your mood all out of whack, give it a couple more days.

The other day I woke up to find vomit in my shower, the towel rack thing in a million pieces on the floor, and my car one step below totaled, cause my brother decided to get ****ed up the night before. I'm not saying all alcohol is bad and I don't judge people who do it, but when I see a smart kid like my brother this pitiful, it makes me glad I stay away from that shit.
