I've been contemplating art quite a bit. It's a forever changing and indefinable part of life that I'm trying to define. The classic "but is it art" query ails me, I'm wondering if it is even necessary to draw a line somewhere, or just let it be and heed the plethora of art and attempt to understand what the fuck it all means.

I love art that makes me think. Traditional pieces are lovely, but it's fun trying to digest the unusual stuff. I've got into a few tiffs with people over what is, and what isn't art. Well, if it's not art, what the hell is it? I usually don't feel too offended or too upset. I'm open minded, they're not. I just feel pity.

Yeah, I don't understand why people insist on making the word "art" some kind of value judgement. It's okay to admit something is art even if you don't personally like it. I'm not a fan of generic landscape paintings that they hang in banks, but that doesn't mean they're not art.

Exactly. I leave them to their hallowed Thomas Kinkade paintings, while I admire some Barnett Newman. I sometimes wonder how we come to define or form opinions on what is, and what isn't art.
