What ****s me off...

Right talking bout the war in another forum got me to thinking....Have you ever seen the disrespect, certainly in England towards the elderly...it sickens me! A few years ago when there still many veterans living, they wern't treated with respect as they should have been. In my opinion i think these people saved our country, they deserve to be given free meals, free accomodation certainly not to be taxed! If it wasn't for them we'd all be speaking German under the third reich yet what do they get in return? Abuse from ****y little chavs and suffer torment in many parts of society. If ever i met one they'd have my instant respect that's for damn sure.

i agree, there is not enough respect shown to the elderly. but not of every elder is a war veteran. my nan and grandad- aged 73 and 74...neither in the war. now the chances are if their over the age of 85 they had some involvement in the second world war at least.

I agree with you 100% man.
Some elderly need to be put in their place verbally sometimes, we all have an Gramma or Grampa that rags on us for our veiws and peircings and tats and lifestyles, and it is ok to tell them straight ya know! They play the elder card well and sometimes too much to their advantage... They are WAY adults and can handle it.
but I still will help an older person across the street or help them with something they are struggling with.

Thats not what he's saying at all  He's saying how the elderly need to be paid more respect by everyone else..

Anarchy doll 05-02-2005 11:55 AM

oh I understand that....
I respect the elderly very much.
but just saying that some elderly don't respect youth, maybe cuz of how the majority treats them....

Yah, it's a vicious circle... The young laugh at the elderly 'cause theyre old, the old shout at the young 'cause they dont have enough respect and "they never acted like that in the old days". Then, the young turn to old and the whole thing starts again...

As the old saying goes: youth is wasted on the young.

The generation gap is a scary thing. Chavs don't give anyone any respect though, its not just the elderly. It's a shame though that the elderly will have such bad views on youth today.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 05-03-2005 02:45 AM

Yeah, but then we've all been fed a really bad view on the elderly too.. If you see old people on TV then you can almost guarantee that they're gonna be grumpy and mean.
