Brilliant! Reminds me of the time (now admittedly I'm going to seem like a fool here, but what else is new?) I called my mate in desperation: my sound card wasn't working! Oh no! I tried everything, but at the time wasn't that au fait with computers, and he was. So he spent an hour or so on the phone with me, changing IRQs (yeah, it was a while ago), uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, checking connections, everything.

Eventually, as we ran out of ideas, I spotted that MY AMP WAS TURNED DOWN!

Jesus! I gingerly pushed the slider up and there was my sound!

He was less than happy! Don't blame him.:shycouch:

Aint no big thing, but I was checking and bagging groceries for a soccer mom today at the store I work at. I give her a paper bag and put her 1/4 gallon milk and 2-liter flat on the bottom, eggs on top of the milk, oranges and onions next to the eggs, bagged shredded lettuce, an avocado, and cheese on top of the eggs and some bread and wrapped hamburger meat on top of the oranges and onions. Perfect bag. She finishes paying and as she walks to get the bag and I start helping the next customer she says "You put stuff on top of the EGGS!?!?

and I says "Yah, but nothin' heavy though" and she mutters loudly "I need another bag; I need to re-do this". Mind you... She watched me do it. There was like... 15 seconds between finishing and her pulling this. Not to mention, I would put money on it that she could have walked 5 miles if need be with that bag and not broken an egg.

I'm a perfectionist at work. Can't please everyone, but I hate being called out on trivial **** that I've done perfectly. There's plenty of petty ****e that gets on my nerves. Nothing big. But lots of petty ****. Oh yeah, the next customer in line and I had a knowing glance and a chuckle about it as she walked out finally. Semi-relieving.

Like I don't treat everyone's groceries like my own, even if you are a ****/dickhead...

Oh give me a break, lady. I have to bag my own groceries at most stores here so if someone did it for me and packed it like that I would not complain.

Next time you should put the milk on top of her avocado.

And the fact that you say she watched you bag the food and she didn't say anything then just screams NIT-PICKY BITCH to me.

The majority of people stare and space out on the whole situation. She probably was looking right at me, but mentally millions of light years away.

Which brings me to my next grocery store qualm:

So I'm fast, I get it. I scan your items and say hello, I bag them as I go, and when I finish scanning your items and putting the last of them in your bag, total it and announce the amount owed, my part is temporarily, officially over. So why are you still staring at me? I'm finished. Here's the part where you should have your money out, cash or card.
I'd say about 15 for every 100 people that come through my line are actually mentally ready to check out and are paying attention. I'd say about 5 times a day, someone will watch me scan and bag all their groceries and then say thank you and try to pick them up and walk out. "Excuse me, about the MONEY" "Oh!!!! Right... right... right.... it's been a long day" I don't want to count the amount of times I hear "It's been a long day" before 4pm. And I'm usually there from 2 to 11...

Sorry d00d but you slipped up a bit there - at least in how I bagged groceries for years. That meat should have gone in its own bag. That's a HUGE no-no. Beef blood oozing down onto all the fresh produce.... not cool. Being wrapped is irrelevant, if you've drive for any amount of time on anything besides the smoothest roads you're going to have some leakage.

As for the eggs, my rule of thumb was the ONLY thing that can go on top of eggs is bread. Especially if your bagging any kind of mom / old lady groceries.

One last tip that a lot of people might not know. Bananas turn black really fast when packed with cold stuff. Not instantaneous, but by the time they get home...

Trollheart 08-28-2012 05:24 PM

Get out of there man before they turn you into their food or something. Seriously, this is sounding more like an episode of Doctor Who all the time. No job is worth that sh1t, unless they pay you in gold bars....

They don't want to train they only want people who are genuinly happy at work, if this is the case im doomed.

I've yet to mention any of this to a co worker, i don't know if i can, i don't know if they're aware of it or not.

This company i work for outsources their video surveillance. Have a list of 9 commandments. Its nuts bro

That's all well and good, I don't stray far from that too much, but I must explain I like in a hippy neighborhood of a hippy town. 90% of the customers are extremely green. "Do you want the meat wrapped separately" "No, I'm only going a few blocks" is typical. When it's busy, I just wrap it and toss it in as is what's typical. One thing is certain though... always treat soccer moms and old ladies with great caution! Most people are so green they bring one or two canvas bags and want it all in, whether 10 dollars worth or 60. It's fine when done delicately. I mean how am I not gonna put light stuff on top of the eggs. Bread doesn't get exclusivity privileges...lots of things can go on top.

I bag my own groceries, and I walk home. I lay my 2-liter flat, eggs next to the soda. On top of the eggs goes the meats (2-3 lbs!), on top of the soda are the canned foods. It's packed so the meat, which isn't heavy enough to hurt the eggs also firmly keeps the cans away... And then just for fun I toss my produce and candy and bread on top. And the eggs all survive the walk every time I put them on the bottom. Some people have had awful bagging experiences and have bagging trust issues. I can understand that... but at least communicate if there's an issue of preference!
