Very immediate, dramatic, and off-putting in a way that I can't put to words.

Interesting. What attracts you to that one so much?

I'm not sure! I love anything that resembles a dream or a scene in some liminal place--particularly if there's a voyeuristic + ever-so-slightly foreboding feel. (And I just generally love old photos and haziness and anything with an ominous or Twin Peaks-y vibe.)

So, I just now managed to find the photographer of the album cover you mentioned-- the lady floating in the water. I wasn't even looking for it; I was listening to Eno on youtube, and this video used that same picture. It's by Toni Frissel, apparently.

The brush technique used by Heidi Fourie looks amazing.. and that last shot "Spring Awakening" is beautifully eerie. It would make a wonderful back piece if you removed some of the density.

I like a lot of the **** yall are sharing. Where do you guys find this stuff?

Well, many of the ones I post are just from my blog archives, though I find many on other art blogs (though sadly the best ones often end up shutting down) as well, or though aimless googling.

50 Watts is a good one for old obscure book illustrations and the like.
Monster Brains is fantastic all around (LOOK at these amazing old Thai horror film posters!). Unquiet Things is great if you like strange and macabre type stuff in general.

And there's some wonderful general art/photography tumblr blogs that have been around for several years like Nevver,2 Headed Snake and Barns Burnt Down Now.
.. For photography specifically I like this one and [nevermind, they shut down too]

Thanks. Always looking for really good artists. Especially for album art. I one time paid 50 bucks for this piece where this guy burned a bunch of **** and melted these wire hangers together to look like a rib cage then put this red light in it that vibrates for my song Nigrum Cor. It fell a part though as I pulled it out the box though. That dude owes me a repair. But it was still really awesome.
