Exo Explores Abandoned Houses Thread

Some of you might know already but for those who don't, I inspect properties for a living. Most of these properties are occupied and I just need to document them but around 10% of them are vacant and I have to do interior inspections. I started recording my explorations and they've been popular in the "Your Day" thread so I decided to make a unique thread for all of them. I'll try to document each house I visit and most of them will be as I arrive so you get to see what I get to see for the first time.

Enjoy...

These were the first two I uploaded. I have two more from one of the most disgusting houses I've come across. It should be in a following post soon.

Mannequin heads are kinda creepy. Especially ones that look like Glen Danzig.

yeah, it's when they turn and stare at you that it gets scary!
I'd employ a guy to play a sharp violin as you go down the stairs, Exo! :D

So this house was one of the most disgusting houses I've been in. It also was in one of the more "urban" areas that I cover. Anybody familiar with northern New Jersey knows how ****ty Passaic is. The front door was locked but the doorknob had been broken off which means that somebody either tried to get in or that it was just always like that and the team that secures the house decided just to keep it locked and find another access. I ended up finding a side door that had been boarded and locked with a pad lock and I was able to get it open with my keys. I had my pepper spray with me and was cautious entering the house as you'll see. I haven't found anybody in a house but there is always the first time.

The first video is my exploration of the house with a little surprise at the end. Like the others, it was my first time in the house. The second video was taken after I came back down and found the basement.

LANGUAGE WARNING: I swear a lot.

What do you look for when you inspect a house?

LoathsomePete 10-17-2012 08:51 AM

"I'm going to get raped in here"

Well if you were in the ground floor suite I'd agree with you, but at least the second floor apartments look alright.

Also those mannequin heads... the second one from the left looks a lot like Urban Hatemonger.

These are hilarious. That house with the door to the roof was fucked up! I actually used to do something similar. I'd go out to abandoned properties and take pictures. Saw some weird stuff in the 4 days I worked that job.

When I heard him say "****!" or whatever he said I was hoping that he had discovered a door to nowhere. Except for all the trash that was actually a pretty bitchin' house. A kitchen on the second floor? Fuck yes! I'd use the first floor for parties and just live on the second floor.

I have to photograph everything. Every room. Every appliance. Every damage. Every everything. This is so the mortgage company who owns the property can see the condition of the house and decide what to do with it.

It was a four apartment house. I guess the people upstairs were a lot nicer when they left. The people downstairs just destroyed the place.

I know it's insane, but I seriously am expecting a zombie to jump out at you at any second during those videos. Or at least a crazy person.
