It didn't end up hitting us very hard. A few small leaks in my house and no power loss, not nearly as bad as Irene last year. The only bad part is that the rivers have flooded somewhat and the rain is supposed to continue until the end of the week so they may get worse. I live on high ground so it wouldn't directly effect me but it might make getting to work difficult.

Me neither. For people not on the coast, it was basically a weak hurricane. Even on the coast, flooding was bad, but not as bad as some of the more powerful hurricanes. The real problem is just how ****ing big it is; so places who normally never really have to deal with this sorta thing are getting hit.

Haha, exactly. We don't get hurricanes here... we're used to tornadoes!

So last night, the screen door at the front entrance got blown off, we have no idea where is is now. The power transformer on the light post blew up, so we had no power at all until pretty much just now, and the front window of the house literally blew inwards, out of it's frame - causing rain to pour into the front room. Yikes.

Is there any part of the USA that isn't affected by either tornados, hurricanes, volcanoes or earthquakes?

Here, in Virginia, we got hit yesterday. It was pretty bad, with winds right around 65 MPH, and around 8 inches of rain. I live right near the water on the East Coast, so there was a lot of flooding.

Depends what you mean by "affected by" I guess. For example, where I live is very rarely heavily impacted by any of those things.

The point I was making, is that the USA has so many freak weather ocurrences in relation to Europe. So we could say that the inland areas of the North East are less likely to be heavily impacted in relation to other areas of the country.

I guess. The reality though is that the only part of the country that's really regularly impacted any of the things you mentioned is the gulf coast area, which gets hit hard by hurricanes a lot. Tornadoes happen in the midwest and plains but their impact is usually pretty confined. Earthquakes happen on the west coast but the really bad ones don't happen very often. And volcanoes are extremely rare and only happen in a few isolated parts of the country.
