So I'm making a blog...

I've decided that I need to do something creative/constructive with my life and that a film blog would be perfect so I can still feed my overwhelming obsession of film. The only problem is that I've never created a blog before and I don't know what's the best direction to go for a first timer.

I'm not looking for an elaborate looking one but a simple two color scheme would be nice. I know that some sites offer templates so perhaps I could find one of those but I wanted to be a little unique.

I also don't mind paying a couple dollars a month. The only blogging sites I know of are...

Blogger
Wordpress
Squarespace
Xanga

If any of you have experience with this and could help me out choosing which way to go that'd be awesome.

Tumblr and Weebly also seen very popular. I think Hermoine has some experience with Tumblr perhaps she could give her take on it here. I still just write down stuff in a journal, I have since the late 80's when I was in high school. I looked back recently to my high school parts of the journal and was amazed how desensitized I was about everything going on in my life. I think your blog will turn out great, I always liked your film stories and attention to detail with regard to all of the films you've watched.

I would recommend Blogger because it's quick, easy and you can use you Gmail account to log in if you have one. Also it's got a great sharing system so people are more likely to come across your blog. I also recommend Weebly.com. I made a Lady Gaga website with that and inserted a blog within it which allows for creative freedom and more features for your blog. Check my links below for examples.

I don't think Wordpress can be beat right now. You should check out some tutorials on youtube of the ones you're considering, to see how they work and what they can do on the back end.

Yeah, I've also heard Wordpress is the best site to use. I know it's very customizable with themes, colour schemes, etc. And easy to use.

I'd say go with Wordpress. I'm constantly using it and it's very easy to start a blog with it.
